High temperatures, wind, rain, and storms will affect seven autonomous communities this Thursday, with Menorca under an orange alert for rissagas, according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

Heat warnings will be activated in Almería, Zaragoza, Teruel, Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, and Valencia. Additionally, there will be alerts for rain and storms in A Coruña, Ourense, and Pontevedra, and for wind in the Central area and the Villaverde valley in Cantabria.

The day is expected to be unstable due to a low-pressure system located near the British Isles, which will cause fronts associated with the storm to affect Galicia, Asturias, western Castile and León, and Extremadura, resulting in very cloudy or overcast skies as well as locally heavy and/or persistent precipitation, particularly in the southwestern part of Galicia.

Rainfall could extend to other areas of the Cantabrian region and the two Castiles. Less likely, there could be light evening showers in the southeast, Melilla, and the Balearic Islands, as well as in the Pyrenees, where they could be locally strong and accompanied by thunderstorms.

In the Canary Islands, the tail of a front is expected to darken the skies on the northern slopes and generate moderate precipitation in the mountainous islands, along with mist in mountainous areas of the northwest and weak haze in the Balearic Islands.

Regarding temperatures, AEMET notes that maximums will decrease in the Canary Islands and generally across the Peninsula, especially in the interior areas, while maximum thermal values will rise on the Mediterranean coasts and pre-coasts. Temperatures are predicted to exceed 35ºC in parts of the Ebro valley, Mallorca, the pre-coasts of Levante, and in low-lying areas of the southeast.

Minimums will also drop in almost the entire Peninsula except in the Guadalquivir valley, Catalonia, and the archipelagos, where they will remain unchanged or rise. In the Balearic Islands, minimums will not fall below 20ºC.

Finally, southwest winds will dominate the Peninsula, being generally moderate, although strong gusts are expected in mountainous areas of the north. Very strong gusts are forecast in parts of Castile and León. On the coast of the Alboran Sea and northern Galicia, a moderate westerly wind is anticipated, while in Cantabria, southern winds could present very strong gusts. In the Canary Islands, moderate north winds will tend to be from the northeast.
