In an interview on Radio El Observador, Milei mentioned that on Monday, August 31, Trump stated that his administration is reviewing the position of the United States regarding the sovereignty of the Falklands, the South Atlantic archipelago administered by the United Kingdom but claimed by Argentina. When asked, the U.S. leader indicated: “I always review every position. It’s just one of many.” Since the 1982 war, Washington has maintained a stance of neutrality in this conflict.
Milei, without going into details, referred to the importance of the issue during his interview, stating that “yesterday something very significant happened regarding the most important and sacred cause we have as Argentines.” The discussion about the Falklands will be part of the agenda for the next ministerial meeting. Furthermore, the president anticipated that the meeting would also focus on an article by Minister Federico Sturzenegger, which criticizes the information disseminated by certain media outlets.
In the same dialogue, President Milei commented on Lionel Messi’s retirement from the Argentine National Team. He described the player’s departure as “a tremendous pain” and acknowledged his career.
