Route 106 links Maipú with Peñalolén on a 38.4 km outbound trip between Terminal Las Acacias and Terminal María Angélica. In the operating schedule it appears as Nueva San Martín – Peñalolén. It crosses the city via the Alameda, Manuel Montt, the Estadio Nacional and Av. Macul. It is a Red Movilidad service, the system formerly known as Transantiago, and many people still search for it as “recorrido 106 Transantiago”. Here you have the route by section, the timetable, how long it takes and how to find out where the bus (locally called a “micro”) is.

Route 106: from Nueva San Martín to Peñalolén

Maipú. The 106 starts at Terminal Las Acacias, leaves via Avenida Portales and La Galaxia, and runs along Av. Nueva San Martín (Av. 4 Poniente, Av. Las Naciones, Boston College, El Olimpo, Los Diamantes) to Av. Los Pajaritos. It then passes Plaza de Maipú and heads down Av. Los Pajaritos, with the Santiago Bueras, Del Sol, Monte Tabor and Las Parcelas stations and the avenue’s numbered bus stops, from 14 down to 4.

Alameda. At Las Rejas it joins the Alameda and follows it to Plaza Italia: Ecuador, San Alberto Hurtado, Universidad de Santiago, San Borja, Estación Central, Unión Latinoamericana, República, Los Héroes, La Moneda, Universidad de Chile, Santa Lucía and Universidad Católica.

Manuel Montt and Estadio Nacional. From Plaza Italia it passes the Museo de Los Tajamares, Parque Balmaceda, Salvador station and the Torres de Tajamar to Manuel Montt station. There it turns south along Manuel Montt street (Eliodoro Yáñez, Francisco Bilbao, Santa Isabel, Av. Sucre) to Monseñor Eyzaguirre station, and via Campos de Deportes reaches Estadio Nacional station.

Macul and Peñalolén. It continues past the UTEM Macul and along Av. José P. Alessandri to Avenida Macul, which it follows south: Municipalidad de Macul, Punta de Rieles, Av. Escuela Agrícola, Plaza Pinto Durán and Macul station. At the Estación de Buses Macul it takes Av. Departamental, Los Cerezos and Av. San Luis de Macul to Avenida Tobalaba, and ends at Terminal María Angélica.

The return trip is similar, with one difference in Providencia: instead of Manuel Montt it goes up Av. Antonio Varas, with stops at the Hospital de Carabineros, the Hospital Calvo Mackenna and the Biblioteca de Providencia, before returning to Manuel Montt station. In Maipú it enters the terminal via Av. El Conquistador.

Route 106 timetable

According to the current DTPM operating schedule (October 2026), the 106 runs every day from 05:30 to 24:00. It is not a 24-hour service: between midnight and 05:30 there are no scheduled departures. The schedule provides for about 102 departures on weekdays, 67 on Saturday and 53 on Sunday, so at weekends the wait is considerably longer.

In the morning peak (07:00 to 09:00) on a weekday, the shortest scheduled interval is 8 minutes. If you need to travel in the early hours, use the journey planner in the App Red to find another combination.

How long the 106 takes

According to the operating schedule, a full outbound trip, from Maipú to Peñalolén, has a scheduled time of 174 minutes for 38.4 km and 102 stops: almost three hours. That is why it is usually more practical to use it for parts of the route, such as Maipú – centre, Alameda – Manuel Montt or Estadio Nacional – Av. Macul, and to combine with the Metro for long trips.

Bus stops and Metro connections

The 106 has 102 stops outbound and 103 on the return, and passes 22 Metro stations. In Maipú: Plaza de Maipú, Santiago Bueras, Del Sol, Monte Tabor and Las Parcelas. On the Alameda: Las Rejas, Ecuador, San Alberto Hurtado, Universidad de Santiago, Estación Central, Unión Latinoamericana, República, Los Héroes, La Moneda, Universidad de Chile, Santa Lucía and Universidad Católica. To the east and south: Salvador, Manuel Montt, Monseñor Eyzaguirre, Estadio Nacional and Macul.

How to find out where the 106 bus is

To see how long until the next 106, use the App Red (in the app stores, “Red Metropolitana de Movilidad”), which is free and has an arrival predictor for each bus stop (paradero). You can also use “¿Cuándo llega?” on red.cl. Enter the bus stop code, printed on the stop sign: it starts with P, followed by a zone letter and a number. The App Red also has a planner that combines buses, Metro and Tren Nos.

Fare and tarjeta bip!

Since 22 February 2026 the adult fare on Red buses is CLP 795 at any time. Secondary and higher-education students pay CLP 260 with the TNE, primary school pupils ride free and seniors with the bip! Adulto Mayor pay CLP 390. You can pay with the tarjeta bip! (it costs CLP 1,550) or with bip!QR from the App Red and other apps.

A single payment covers up to two transfers (three legs) within 120 minutes of the first validation, as long as you do not repeat the same bus route. There is no extra charge between buses; if you transfer from the 106 to the Metro during peak hours, you pay the difference up to CLP 895. Note: on a full trip of almost three hours, the 120-minute window is not enough for a transfer at the end.

Tips for travelling on the 106

  • From Maipú to the centre, the 106 runs alongside the Metro on Pajaritos and the Alameda: you can transfer at Las Rejas or Estación Central.
  • To get to Av. Macul or the Estadio Nacional from the Alameda without a transfer, the 106 is a direct option.
  • The last departure is at 24:00 and there are few departures on Sunday: check the App Red before going to the bus stop.
  • In the Manuel Montt area the outbound and return trips use different streets (Manuel Montt and Antonio Varas).
