Bus line 57 in Buenos Aires: route, stops and timetable

Line 57 is the colectivo (city bus) that links Buenos Aires city with the far west and north-west of Greater Buenos Aires. Many people know it as “the 57 to Luján”, but it is a network of 19 ramales (branches), run by Transportes Atlántida S.A.C., that also reaches Pilar, Mercedes, Moreno and Capilla del Señor. Its city termini are Plaza Italia, in Palermo, and Plaza Miserere, in Once. According to SUBE open data, it recorded about 44,800 trips on a typical weekday in August and September 2026. This guide covers the branches by destination, reference timetables and how long each trip takes.

Bus 57 route in Buenos Aires

From Plaza Italia the 57 leaves by two routes. The “via Ruta 8” branches take Av. San Martín to Av. General Paz, continue along Av. Ricardo Balbín (Ruta 8) and Av. Eva Perón in the San Martín district, cross the Camino del Buen Ayre and continue along Av. Presidente Illia towards San Miguel and José C. Paz. The “via Panamericana” branches go up Av. Cabildo to General Paz and take the Autopista Panamericana, with stops at San Martín, Paraná and Av. Márquez, before splitting towards the Acceso Norte, the Camino del Buen Ayre or the Pilar branch of the motorway.

The three branches that leave Plaza Miserere (P, Q and R) are express services: they take the Autopista 25 de Mayo, the Perito Moreno and the Autopista del Oeste (Ruta Nacional 7). On weekdays they use the AU 25 de Mayo Metrobus towards the province from 3 pm to 9 pm and towards the city from 6 am to 12 noon, with few stops on that section.

Bus 57 to Luján

Three branches reach the Luján Bus Terminal. The 57D leaves Plaza Italia and runs via Ruta 8, Ruta 23 in Moreno and Ruta 7, passing Francisco Álvarez, General Rodríguez and Lezica y Torrezuri stations; it covers about 82 km and more than 100 stops. The 57C starts the same way and then takes the Acceso Oeste. The 57Q express is the one to look for if you are leaving from Once: it runs from Plaza Miserere to Luján via the motorways with very few stops, and in the official schedule it is the branch with the most departures to Luján on weekdays. The branches to Mercedes also pass the Luján terminal, so you can use them to reach the city of the Basilica too.

Bus 57 to Pilar (and the “Pilar Express”)

Five branches go to Pilar, all from Plaza Italia. The 57E runs via Ruta 8 and Av. Presidente Illia, passing San Miguel and Presidente Derqui. The 57F runs via the Panamericana and its Pilar branch, with stops at Fábrica Wobron, Constituyentes and Colinas del Norte, and is the fastest regular service. The 57G detours via Garín station. The express services to Pilar are the 57N, via Acceso Norte, and the 57O, via Av. Cantilo and Acceso Norte: if you are looking for a “57 Pilar Express”, those are the letters to watch for on the sign. All of them end in Pilar, around E. López and Alsina.

Bus 57 to Mercedes, Moreno and Capilla del Señor

Five branches go to the Mercedes Bus Terminal, more than 120 km from Plaza Italia: the 57A via Ruta 8 and Ruta 7, the 57B via the Camino del Buen Ayre and Moreno station, the 57L via the 25 de Mayo, Perito Moreno and del Oeste motorways, the 57M express via the Camino del Buen Ayre and the 57P express from Plaza Miserere. The 57J and 57K go to Moreno station on the Sarmiento train line via the Camino del Buen Ayre, and the 57R express from Once via the Autopista del Oeste. The 57H via Ruta 8 and the 57Ñ express via Acceso Norte reach Capilla del Señor (Exaltación de la Cruz), passing Pilar and Pavón station. The 57I is a shorter branch that ends at the Castelar junction, in Moreno.

Bus 57 timetable

The daily timetable above shows the first and last departure of each branch according to the official schedule loaded in the GTFS. The busiest branches also run in the small hours: the 57D to Luján, and the 57E and 57F to Pilar, have departures after midnight. The 57B to Mercedes runs roughly from 4 am to 10 pm and the 57Q express from Once to Luján from 6 am to 11:40 pm. Low-frequency express branches, such as the 57Ñ or the 57P, have only a few departures a day.

At weekends service drops: on a typical Sunday the line records about 18,300 SUBE trips, against 44,800 on a weekday. And there is an important fact for 2026: in April the company announced a 30% cut in services for an indefinite period, due to the rise in diesel prices, according to Pilar media. How long bus 57 takes

Scheduled travel time depends on the route. From Plaza Miserere to Luján, the 57Q express takes about 70 minutes. From Plaza Italia to Luján, the 57D via Ruta 8 and 7 takes around two hours, and the 57C via Acceso Oeste about the same. To Pilar, the 57F via the Panamericana takes around 80 minutes, the 57O express about 65 and the 57E via Ruta 8 about 100. The longest trip is to Mercedes: about 2 h 40 min on the 57B and nearly 3 hours on the 57A. These are times without incidents: at rush hour or in rain, allow extra time.

Main stops and connections

Plaza Italia is a transport hub in Palermo, with subte (metro) line D and many bus lines. Plaza Miserere, in Once, connects with the Sarmiento train and subte lines H and A. Along the route in the province, Moreno station connects with the Sarmiento train, and Francisco Álvarez, General Rodríguez and Luján stations with the Moreno–Mercedes branch of the same train line.

Tips for riding bus 57

• From Once to Luján, the 57Q express is the fastest option. From Palermo, take the 57D via Ruta 8 or the 57C via Acceso Oeste.
• To Pilar, the 57F and the 57N and 57O expresses are faster than the 57E via Ruta 8.
• Long trips are charged by section: tell the driver your exact destination when you tap your SUBE card.
• With the 2026 service cut, allow more waiting time, especially at night and on Sundays.
