Argentina public holidays 2027 add up to 16 national holidays set by Law 27,399 (12 fixed and 4 movable), plus Holy Thursday, Thursday 25 March, as an optional non-working day.

This guide gives you the full calendar with the weekday of every date, the 8 long weekends already confirmed, how movable holidays shift and where the 2027 tourism bridge days stand: as of 8 October 2026 they have not been set yet. Every date comes from the text of Law 27,399 and was calculated from Easter Sunday, 28 March 2027.

Four holidays fall on a weekend in 2027: 1 May, 20 June, 20 November and 25 December. None of them moves to a weekday, because the law only shifts movable holidays that fall from Tuesday to Friday.

Long weekends in 2027

Argentina public holidays 2027 create 8 long weekends of three days or more, before any tourism bridge days are added. Easter is the longest, with up to five days off if your employer closes on Holy Thursday.

Long weekend Days Reason
Friday 1 to Sunday 3 January 3 New Year
Saturday 6 to Tuesday 9 February 4 Carnival
Wednesday 24 to Sunday 28 March 5 (3 if you work Thursday) Remembrance Day, Holy Thursday, Good Friday
Friday 2 to Sunday 4 April 3 Malvinas
Saturday 19 to Monday 21 June 3 Güemes (moved)
Friday 9 to Sunday 11 July 3 Independence Day
Saturday 14 to Monday 16 August 3 San Martín (moved)
Saturday 9 to Monday 11 October 3 Cultural Diversity (moved)

March is the standout: Wednesday 24 is a holiday, Thursday 25 is a non-working day and Friday 26 is Good Friday, so many people will be off from Wednesday through Easter Sunday. June has only one long weekend, because 20 June falls on a Sunday and does not move.

Bridge holidays in 2027: current status

The 2027 bridge holidays have not been set yet: as of 8 October 2026, nothing fixing the tourism non-working days for 2027 has appeared in Argentina’s Boletín Oficial, the official gazette. This guide will be updated once they are published.

Article 7 of Law 27,399 lets the national executive set up to three holidays or non-working days a year to promote tourism. They must fall on a Monday or a Friday, and the law asks for them to be set 50 days before the end of the calendar year.

For 2026 the Cabinet Office set them in Resolution 164/2025, published on 26 December 2025: Monday 23 March, Friday 10 July and Monday 7 December 2026. The same pattern, attaching a Monday or Friday to an existing holiday, is expected for 2027.

Candidates pending an official act

Looking at the calendar, these Mondays and Fridays sit next to a holiday. They are Diariko’s reading of the calendar, pending an official act, not confirmed dates:

  • Monday 24 May: would join the weekend to Tuesday 25 May for four days off.
  • Friday 30 April: would add a day before Saturday 1 May.
  • Friday 19 November: would add a day before Saturday 20 November.
  • Friday 24 December: would create a Christmas Eve and Christmas weekend.

How movable holidays work

Movable holidays that fall on a Tuesday or Wednesday move to the previous Monday, and those that fall on a Thursday or Friday move to the following Monday, under article 6 of Law 27,399. On a Saturday, Sunday or Monday they stay put.

In 2027 the rule moves three dates. 17 June is a Thursday and moves to Monday 21; 17 August is a Tuesday and moves to Monday 16; 12 October is a Tuesday and moves to Monday 11. 20 November is a Saturday and stays there.

Fixed holidays never move, even midweek. For that reason 24 March (Wednesday), 25 May (Tuesday) and 8 December (Wednesday) stand alone among the Argentina public holidays 2027, unless a bridge-day act links them to a weekend.

Holiday or non-working day: what changes for you

A national holiday applies to everyone and pays double if you work it, while on a non-working day the employer decides whether to open and pays the normal rate. Articles 166 and 167 of the Employment Contract Law set these rules.

In 2027 the only fixed national non-working day is Holy Thursday, 25 March. Banks, insurance and related businesses do not open on non-working days, so handle bank errands or currency needs before Wednesday 24 March.

Law 27,399 also sets non-working days for people of the Jewish faith (Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and the first and last two days of Passover) and the Islamic faith (Islamic New Year, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha). Their dates follow each religious calendar and are not part of the general calendar.

Getting around Buenos Aires on public holidays

On national holidays, Buenos Aires colectivos (city buses) usually run their Sunday and holiday timetable, with longer waits than on a weekday. Check your route before heading out in our guide to Buenos Aires bus lines.

On long routes such as bus 60, allow extra time, because the gap between buses can be longer. Top up your card before a long weekend; our guide to the SUBE card explains how.

Planning trips around the 2027 long weekends

The smartest way to use Argentina public holidays 2027 is to book Carnival and Easter first, since those four- and five-day blocks see the highest demand for long-distance buses and flights.

  • Carnival (6 to 9 February): summer in Argentina, good for the coast or Patagonia.
  • Easter (24 to 28 March): five days for a longer trip, for example to the north-west.
  • July (9 to 11): a winter weekend, good for the snow or a city break.
  • October (9 to 11): mild spring weather for short getaways.

If your trip crosses borders, compare with the Chile public holidays for 2027 and the Brazil holidays in 2027, since long weekends do not line up and that affects prices and availability.
