How many people ride line 59?

61,122trips on a weekday
33,323trips on a Saturday
20,999trips on a Sunday

It ranks #14 out of 265 national and provincial AMBA bus lines by weekday trips.

Trips paid with a SUBE card, typical (median) value for August–September 2026. Source: Ministry of Transport open data.

Line 59 links Estación Buenos Aires, the terminus of the Belgrano Sur train in the south of the city, with Vicente López. It crosses the city from south to north via the Metrobús 9 de Julio, Av. Santa Fe, Av. Las Heras, Plaza Italia and Av. Cabildo, and it is one of the most used colectivos (city buses) in the AMBA: according to SUBE open data, it records about 61,100 trips on a typical weekday in August and September 2026. It is run by Microómnibus Ciudad de Buenos Aires S.A.T.C.I. (MOCBA). It has four routes: three regular ones, A, B and C, and a motorway express, the D.

Bus 59 route

The three regular ramales (branches) share almost the whole route within the city. They leave Estación Buenos Aires via Luna and Olavarría streets, take Av. Vélez Sársfield, Av. Amancio Alcorta, Av. Dr. Ramón Carrillo and Av. Brasil, and join the Metrobús 9 de Julio via Bernardo de Irigoyen. They leave it between Paraguay and Marcelo T. de Alvear and continue along Av. Santa Fe, Av. Callao and Av. Las Heras to Plaza Italia. There they use the lanes of the Pacífico Transfer Centre, return to Av. Santa Fe and continue along Av. Luis María Campos and Av. Federico Lacroze to the Metrobús Norte, along Av. Cabildo. They cross General Paz and continue along the Av. Maipú Metrobús, in Vicente López.

On the return trip, the route runs down the Cabildo Metrobús, Av. Luis María Campos, Plaza Italia, Av. Las Heras, Montevideo and the Metrobús 9 de Julio to the Constitución area, and returns to Estación Buenos Aires via Av. Caseros and Av. Amancio Alcorta.

Bus 59 to Vicente López: branches A and B

The 59A, via Estación La Lucila, and the 59B, via Barrio Golf, end at the same point: Intendente Coronel Amaro Ávalos and Domingo de Acassuso, in Vicente López. They split after leaving Av. Maipú. The A runs along streets such as Paraná and Juan de Garay, with a fare section at Paraná and Av. Maipú; the B takes Córdoba, Juan Bautista Alberdi and Dr. Jonas Salk. Both pass Estación Bartolomé Mitre first. The A is about 31 km long and the B about 29 km. If your destination is near Paraná, choose the A; if it is on Dr. Jonas Salk or San Lorenzo, the B.

Bus 59 to Puente Saavedra: branch C

The 59C follows the same route through the city but ends earlier: at the Vicente López Public Transport Transfer Station, at Av. Maipú 75, on the other side of General Paz. Many passengers know it as the Puente Saavedra area. It is about 20 km. It is useful if you are going as far as General Paz or want to change to other lines there.

Bus 59 via the motorway: the D express

The 59D is the express service, known on the street as the “59 por autopista” (59 via the motorway) or semirrápido (semi-fast). It follows the B’s path, but outbound, after Carlos Pellegrini and Av. Santa Fe, it takes Av. 9 de Julio and the Autopista Illia, continues along Av. Intendente Cantilo and General Paz, and comes off at Av. Maipú. Along that whole section it neither picks up nor drops off passengers. On the return trip it does the reverse via Av. Leopoldo Lugones and the Autopista Illia, with no stops between Av. Maipú and Cerrito and Av. Santa Fe. It is about 28 km long. It is the best option if you are travelling from the south or downtown to Vicente López without intermediate stops in Recoleta, Palermo or Belgrano.

💡 Good to know: check the letter before you board. All 59s share the Metrobús 9 de Julio, but the D does not stop between Av. Santa Fe and General Paz, and the C ends at the Vicente López Transfer Station.

Timetable and frequency

Resolution 801/2024 states that the regular services, that is, branches A, B and C, run 24 hours a day. At rush hour, the authorised interval is 4.5 to 6.5 minutes on the A, 5.5 to 8 minutes on the B while the express is running (4.5 to 6 minutes outside those hours), and 16.5 to 23.5 minutes on the C. The D express has the same interval as the C. The resolution does not state the hours of the D or publish a timetable per branch, so we do not give exact times.

SUBE data give an idea of the service level: about 61,100 trips on a weekday, 33,300 on a Saturday and 21,000 on a Sunday. For a trip at night or at the weekend, check the next bus in the BA Cómo Llego app.

Line 59 changes in 2024–2026

The structure of the 59 has not changed: Resolution 801/2024, published in the Boletín Oficial on 28 August 2024, kept the four routes A, B, C and D. There were only minor adjustments, such as the entry to and exit from the Estación Buenos Aires terminus via Luna street. Some sources still show branches leaving from Plaza Constitución or two motorway express services; according to the current resolution, there is only one express, the D, and all branches leave from Estación Buenos Aires.

Main stops and connections

The 59 connects with several train lines and the subte (metro). At its terminus it connects with the Belgrano Sur train, and on the return trip it passes through the Constitución area, where the Roca train and subte line C are. At Plaza Italia you can connect with subte line D, which runs under Av. Santa Fe and Av. Cabildo. In Vicente López, the Transfer Station on Av. Maipú serves many lines, and branches A, B and D pass Estación Bartolomé Mitre.
