Route 226 is a Red Movilidad bus (locally, a micro) in the system formerly called Transantiago, linking central Santiago with Puente Alto. It leaves from the Mercado Central, heads south along Nataniel Cox and Gran Avenida, crosses east via Av. Lo Ovalle and the La Serena and San Gregorio area, and ends in Puente Alto via Av. Vicuña Mackenna and Nonato Coo. According to DTPM’s current operating schedule (October 2026), the outbound trip is 28.6 km long and has 97 bus stops. Since 16 August 2025 it has been run by Conecta 17.

Route 226: from the Centre to Nonato Coo

Central Santiago. The 226 starts at the Mercado Central, continues along Monjitas and passes the Teatro Municipal and Santa Lucía station. It then heads south along Nataniel Cox, with bus stops at Parque Almagro station, Av. 10 de Julio, the CESFAM N°1, Av. Manuel Antonio Matta and Ñuble, as far as Franklin station.

Gran Avenida. From Franklin it continues along Gran Avenida, using the avenue’s numbered stops: it passes the Hospital Barros Luco, the Municipalidad de San Miguel and the San Miguel, Lo Vial, Departamental and Ciudad del Niño stations, up to paradero 17.

Av. Lo Ovalle, La Serena and San Gregorio. At paradero 17 on Gran Avenida it turns east along Décima Avenida and Avenida Lo Ovalle, crosses Santa Rosa and takes La Serena, where it passes Copa Joao Goulart, La Victoria and the Complejo Malaquías Concha. Via the Mercado San Gregorio, Av. San Gregorio, Coronel and Bahía Catalina it reaches San José de la Estrella.

Vicuña Mackenna and Puente Alto. Along San José de la Estrella it reaches the station of the same name and Av. Vicuña Mackenna, where it stops at paradero 24, Los Quillayes, Elisa Correa, the Hospital de Niños and the Hospital Sótero del Río. From paradero 31 it continues along Del Caribe and Maestro Palomo and enters Nonato Coo, which it follows to Dr. Eduardo Cordero. It ends at Dr. Eduardo Cordero and Cerro Catedral.

On the way back to the centre the route changes at two points: on Vicuña Mackenna it also passes the Portal Concha y Toro, and from Franklin it goes up San Diego, next to the Teatro Caupolicán, and along Santa Rosa and Mac Iver to the Mercado Central.

Route 226 timetable

According to DTPM’s current operating schedule (October 2026), the 226 runs every day from 05:30. On a weekday there are about 114 departures towards Nonato Coo; on Saturday about 85 and on Sunday about 84.

In the weekday morning peak it leaves roughly every 9 minutes. The highest frequency is in the afternoon, between 16:30 and 18:30, with a bus every 6 minutes in both directions. At weekends, during the day, the interval is between 12 and 13 minutes. After 22:00 it comes every 15 to 20 minutes.

The 226 is not a 24-hour service. Between midnight and 01:00 there are departures every 30 minutes (towards the centre, there are none in that slot on Sunday), and between 01:00 and 05:30 there are no scheduled departures.

💡 Good to know: the times in the schedule are departures from the terminal. The last bus of the night reaches the intermediate bus stops later than its departure time, so confirm it in the predictor.

How long the 226 takes

According to the operating schedule, the full trip from the Mercado Central to Nonato Coo takes about 101 minutes for 28.6 km. Gran Avenida and Vicuña Mackenna carry a lot of traffic during peak hours, so for long trips it is worth checking the estimated time in the App Red trip planner.

Bus stops and Metro connections

The 226 has bus stops at eleven Metro stations: Santa Lucía, Parque Almagro, Franklin, San Miguel, Lo Vial, Departamental, Ciudad del Niño, San José de la Estrella, Los Quillayes, Elisa Correa and Hospital Sótero del Río. This makes it useful for connecting with the Metro both in the centre and on Gran Avenida and Vicuña Mackenna. To transfer, tap your bip! within 120 minutes of your first tap.

How to see where the 226 bus is

The App Red, Red Movilidad’s free official app, has a predictor that shows how long until each bus reaches your stop. On red.cl, the “¿Cuándo llega?” option works the same way: type in the bus stop code and you will see the next buses. The code is on the sign at each bus stop and starts with P, a letter and a number. On the map on this page you can see the full 226 route and find your bus stop.

Fare and tarjeta bip!

The adult bus fare is CLP 795 at any time of day, in force since 22 February 2026. Secondary and higher-education students with a TNE pay CLP 260, primary-school pupils ride free and seniors with a bip! Adulto Mayor card pay CLP 390. You can pay with the tarjeta bip! or with bip!QR from the App Red.

A single payment gives you up to two transfers (three legs) within 120 minutes of your first tap, as long as you do not repeat the same bus route. There is no extra charge between buses; if you combine with the Metro, the total rises to CLP 895 in peak hours and CLP 815 in off-peak hours.

Tips for riding the 226

  • If you are going to the Hospital Barros Luco or the Hospital Sótero del Río, the 226 has bus stops named after both hospitals, in both directions.
  • In the centre, the outbound trip leaves via Monjitas and Nataniel Cox and the return arrives via San Diego and Santa Rosa: check the map to choose your bus stop.
  • After 01:00 there are no departures: if you are heading back to Puente Alto late, check the predictor before going to the bus stop.
  • Check your balance on tarjetabip.cl or in the App Red before boarding.
