Santiago bus 117 (Red): route map, stops and timetable

Route 117 is a bus (locally called a “micro”) that links the north of Santiago with the eastern side of the city without going along the Alameda. It leaves the Estación Intermodal Vespucio Norte and reaches Departamental Oriente, on Avenida Las Torres, covering 26.0 km; Red lists it as a service between Recoleta and Peñalolén. Its main axis is Av. Pedro de Valdivia, from Providencia to the Estadio Nacional. It is a Red Movilidad service, the system formerly known as Transantiago, run by STU (Santiago Transporte Urbano). Route 117: from Vespucio Norte to Departamental Oriente

Northern section. The 117 starts at the Estación Intermodal Vespucio Norte, takes Avenida Recoleta and passes the Municipalidad de Huechuraba. Via Premio Nobel it enters the Camino El Bosque de Santiago, with stops at the corners of República de Estados Unidos, República de Noruega and Av. Pdte. Salvador Allende, and continues along La Rinconada and Avenida Del Parque.

Pedro de Valdivia axis. Via Av. Los Conquistadores it reaches Pedro de Valdivia station and heads south down Avenida Pedro de Valdivia: Municipalidad de Providencia, Av. Pocuro, Inés de Suárez station, The Kent School, Av. Sucre, Ñuñoa station, Av. Castillo Velasco and Estadio Nacional station. Further south it passes the Velódromo and the junctions with Los Olmos and Av. Quilín.

South-eastern section. From Pedro de Valdivia it continues along Av. Escuela Agrícola, Exequiel Fernández and Av. La Aguada, and via Froilán Roa reaches Av. Departamental. It crosses Américo Vespucio, passes the Estación de Buses Macul and the Escuela San Valentín, turns onto Avenida Tobalaba and ends at Avenida Las Torres and Los Verduleros.

The return trip has an important change in northern Providencia: instead of returning via Av. Los Conquistadores, it goes up Guardia Vieja to Los Leones and Tobalaba stations, and continues along Tajamar, Nueva Tajamar and El Cerro to Avenida Del Parque. At the end it passes Vespucio Norte station before entering the Estación Intermodal.

117 services and variants

The 117c is a short loop Huechuraba – Providencia. It leaves the Municipalidad de Huechuraba, runs along the Camino El Bosque de Santiago and Avenida Del Parque, reaches Los Leones and Tobalaba stations, and returns via Tajamar and El Cerro to Av. Recoleta. It is 17.9 km long and its scheduled time is 43 minutes. It runs only Monday to Friday, from 05:30 to 22:00, with about 42 departures and a minimum interval of 10 minutes in the morning peak. It does not run at weekends.

Route 117 timetable

According to the current DTPM operating schedule (October 2026), the 117 runs every day from 05:30 to 24:00. It is not a 24-hour service: between midnight and 05:30 there are no scheduled departures. On weekdays the schedule provides for about 103 departures, on Saturday about 76 and on Sunday about 64.

In the morning peak (07:00 to 09:00) on a weekday, the shortest scheduled interval is 9 minutes. At weekends, with fewer departures, the wait is longer. If you need to travel in the early hours, use the journey planner in the App Red to find another combination.

How long the 117 takes

According to the operating schedule, a full outbound trip, from Vespucio Norte to Departamental Oriente, has a scheduled time of 67 minutes for 26.0 km and 68 stops. The 117c short loop has 43 scheduled minutes. These are reference times: in peak hours it is best to allow extra time.

Bus stops and Metro connections

Outbound, the 117 has 68 stops and passes four Metro stations on Av. Pedro de Valdivia: Pedro de Valdivia, Inés de Suárez, Ñuñoa and Estadio Nacional. It also stops at the Estación de Buses Macul, next to Metro Macul. On the return it has 82 stops and adds the Los Leones, Tobalaba and Vespucio Norte stations.

How to find out where the 117 bus is

To see how long until the next 117, use the App Red (in the app stores, “Red Metropolitana de Movilidad”), which is free and has an arrival predictor for each bus stop (paradero). You can also use “¿Cuándo llega?” on red.cl. In both cases enter the bus stop code, printed on the sign: it starts with P, followed by a zone letter and a number. The App Red also plans trips combining buses, Metro and Tren Nos.

Fare and tarjeta bip!

Since 22 February 2026 the adult fare on Red buses is CLP 795 at any time. Secondary and higher-education students pay CLP 260 with the TNE, primary school pupils ride free and seniors with the bip! Adulto Mayor pay CLP 390. You can pay with the tarjeta bip! (it costs CLP 1,550) or with bip!QR from the App Red and other apps.

With a single payment you get up to two transfers (three legs) within 120 minutes of the first validation, as long as you do not repeat the same bus route. There is no extra charge between buses; if you transfer from the 117 to the Metro during peak hours, you pay the difference up to CLP 895.

Tips for travelling on the 117

• Los Leones and Tobalaba stations are only served in the direction of Vespucio Norte; towards Departamental Oriente the 117 heads straight down Av. Los Conquistadores and Pedro de Valdivia.
• On weekdays, the 117c is the short alternative between Huechuraba and Providencia.
• The last scheduled departure is at 24:00: if you are heading back late, check the App Red before going to the bus stop.
• To get to the Estadio Nacional from Providencia or Huechuraba, the 117 drops you next to Estadio Nacional station.
