TIT card: mandatory since 8 July 2026
You need a Tarjeta Interoperable de Transporte (TIT) to enter and exit Lima Metro Line 2 since Wednesday 8 July 2026. The card costs S/ 7.50 and is sold at the ticket offices and vending machines of all five stations between 6:00 am and 11:00 pm.
The ATU and the operator announced the rule on 30 June 2026. You tap the card at the gates on the way in and out, but no balance is deducted for now, so there is no need to top it up while rides remain free.
- Free cards: members of the Peruvian National Police, the volunteer fire brigade and people with disabilities holding a Conadis card get the TIT free at the ticket office.
- Personalised cards: since 29 September 2026 ticket offices again issue personalised TIT cards for adult, school, university, police, firefighter and severe-disability profiles.
- Student half fare: buying a student card requires your original DNI and a valid physical half-fare student card, in person.
In July 2026 the ATU said the TIT is already accepted by some conventional bus companies and by the AeroDirecto service to Jorge Chávez airport, and that any balance on an existing card is kept.
Lima Metro Line 2 fare: approved but not charged
The Lima Metro Line 2 fare is set at S/ 1.40 for adults and S/ 0.70 for university and school students, in force on paper since Monday 1 April 2024 under Official Letter No. 0432-2024-MTC/19.02. As of October 2026 it is still not charged, because the line remains in its trial operation phase (marcha blanca).
The MTC confirmed this in its 14 July 2026 release: passengers validate the TIT but travel without paying the fare. Since opening in December 2023 the line has carried more than 41 million passengers.
| Profile | Approved fare | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Adult | S/ 1.40 | Every day, including holidays |
| University or institute student | S/ 0.70 | Monday to Saturday; adult fare on Sundays and holidays |
| School student (regular and special basic education) | S/ 0.70 | Monday to Friday, 6:00 to 8:30, 12:00 to 15:30 and 17:30 to 20:00 |
| TIT card | S/ 7.50 | One-off purchase |
No official start date for fare collection has been announced. The ATU and the operator will publish it on their channels; until then, the card is the only thing you pay for.

Connections with Line 1 and the Metropolitano
Lima Metro Line 2 does not yet connect with Line 1 or with the Metropolitano bus rapid transit; both links will come when the central sections open. From the five current stations, the only connections are authorised city buses.
The Line 1 interchange will be at 28 de Julio station (E-16), at the corner of Avenida 28 de Julio and Avenida Aviación in La Victoria, according to the MTC. The Metropolitano link will be at Estación Central on Paseo Colón in central Lima. For getting around the centre, north or south of the city today, the Metropolitano is an option: see our guide to the Lima Metropolitano, with hours and routes.

- No e-scooters or e-bikes: the operator does not allow them inside stations.
- Accessibility: stations have lifts, escalators and tactile paving.
