Line 148 is a national-jurisdiction colectivo (city bus) that links Plaza Constitución with Florencio Varela and San Francisco Solano, in the southern suburbs. Since July 2026 it has been run by La Central de Vicente López S.A.C., which replaced El Nuevo Halcón after several months of crisis and a period without service. According to SUBE open data, it recorded about 34,400 trips on a typical weekday in August and September 2026. With the change of operator the line was left with six ramales (branches) instead of ten, so much of the information circulating on maps and apps is no longer valid.

Bus 148 route in 2026

All branches leave Plaza Constitución, from Lima Este street between Av. Juan de Garay and Constitución, and share the start of the trip: they get on the Autopista 9 de Julio Sur, cross the Puente Pueyrredón and enter Avellaneda along Av. Belgrano and Av. Mitre. Most continue along Av. Los Quilmes and the Metrobus Calchaquí, and from there they split by destination.

The routes of A, D, G, H and I match those in Resolution 801/2024, and their length is practically the same on the Ministry of Transport’s official 2026 map.

Bus 148 to Florencio Varela: branches A, B and D

The 148A goes to the Florencio Varela Cemetery. After the Metrobus Calchaquí it takes Av. Hipólito Yrigoyen and Av. San Martín (Ruta 53), uses the Metrobus Florencio Varela, passes through central Varela, near the Roca train station, and continues along Av. Eva Perón (Ruta 53) to Concejal Esteban Pisani and Bulgaria. It covers about 32 km.

The 148B is the longest branch: according to the official 2026 route it covers about 42 km to La Capilla, in Florencio Varela. It shares the route along the Metrobus Calchaquí and Florencio Varela with the A, and continues further south. Until 2026 the B ended at the El Tropezón locality; with the new operator its terminus moved to La Capilla. In the media it appears as “La Capilla por Senzabello” (La Capilla via Senzabello).

The 148D goes to Villa del Plata by a different route: from Av. Mitre it continues along Coronel Lynch, Av. General Mosconi and Av. 12 de Octubre, enters the Metrobus Florencio Varela and, after central Varela, takes Ruta 36 and Camino General Belgrano to the depot on Calle 106 between 15A and 17. It covers about 31 km. It is the one the press calls “Villa del Plata por Mosconi” (Villa del Plata via Mosconi).

Bus 148 to San Francisco Solano: branches G, H and I

The other three branches go to the Solano area, in Quilmes, and differ in the avenue they use at the end. The 148G leaves the Metrobus Calchaquí along Av. 12 de Octubre (Ruta 49), takes Camino General Belgrano and Av. José Andrés López and ends at Av. Ferrocarril Provincial and Vicente Franco, next to San Francisco Solano station; it covers about 24 km. The 148H reaches the same station via Camino General Belgrano, Av. República de Francia and Av. Gobernador Monteverde (Ruta 4), in about 26 km. The 148I runs along Av. San Martín and Av. Donato Álvarez and ends at Av. Juan Domingo Perón and Av. Monteverde, in about 25 km; in the media it appears as “Solano por Donato Álvarez” (Solano via Donato Álvarez).

💡 Good to know: check the letter and destination on the sign before you board. When service resumed, the company and some media used letters for some branches that differ from the official ones; the safe option is to go by the destination (Cementerio, La Capilla, Villa del Plata, or Solano and the avenue).

Timetable and frequency

Under the regulations, line 148 services run 24 hours a day, with timetables approved by the CNRT. The maximum rush-hour frequencies are 10 minutes between buses for branch A and 8 minutes for branches D, G, H and I. We found no official published frequency for the new branch B, nor a timetable per branch.

SUBE data give an idea of how use changes during the week: about 34,400 trips on a weekday, 21,700 on a Saturday and 13,500 on a Sunday. To travel at night or at the weekend, check the next bus in the BA Cómo Llego app before you leave.

What changed on line 148 between 2024 and 2026

In August 2024 Resolution 801/2024 updated the routes of the ten branches that existed then, A to J: many of them began using the Metrobus Calchaquí and the Metrobus Florencio Varela, and the Villa del Plata terminus moved to Calle 106.

The big change came in 2026. El Nuevo Halcón, which had held the line since 1999, gradually suspended branches until it stopped providing the service at the start of the year. According to media reports, the 148 returned to service in early May 2026 with the new operator. Resolution 41/2026 of the Secretaría de Transporte, published in the Boletín Oficial (Official Gazette) on 8 July 2026, transferred the permit to La Central de Vicente López S.A.C. and left six branches: A, B, D, G, H and I. The C (El Alpino), the E (El Jalón), the F (Berazategui) and the J (Solano via Tomás Flores) are no longer listed, and the B moved from El Tropezón to La Capilla.

Strikes, complaints and operator

The 148 is one of the lines that most often makes the news for strikes: in 2025 drivers took industrial action over wages, and in early 2026 the line was left without service. Today it is run by La Central de Vicente López S.A.C.; many people still search for it as “148 El Halcón” or “El Nuevo Halcón”, which was the previous operator. To find out whether it is running today, check the line’s social media, the day’s news and the BA Cómo Llego app.

Because it links the city with the province, it is a national-jurisdiction line overseen by the CNRT. To complain about frequency, a bus that did not stop or poor service, call 0800-333-0300 or use the form at control.cnrt.gob.ar, with the line, branch, time and vehicle number. The fare is paid with SUBE only and depends on distance: from October 2026, with a registered card, it ranges from $742.81 up to 3 km to $1,337.06 for over 27 km. With an unregistered card you pay double.

Tips for riding bus 148

  • Do not trust old maps: if you see branches to El Jalón, Berazategui, El Alpino or El Tropezón, that information predates 2026.
  • For Florencio Varela you have three options: A to the Cemetery, B to La Capilla and D to Villa del Plata; for Solano, G, H or I.
  • Before you leave, especially at night, confirm in BA Cómo Llego that the branch you need is running.
  • Use a registered SUBE card and tell the driver your destination when you board, because the fare is charged by distance.
