Route 508 is a bus (locally called a “micro”) that links the west of Santiago with the south-east, crossing the historic centre. Red lists it as a service between Pudahuel and La Florida; in the operating schedule it appears as Av. Mapocho – Av. Las Torres, with 33.7 km outbound. It is a Red Movilidad service, the system formerly known as Transantiago, run by Metbus. In the 2025 ranking of the most used services published by Red, the 508 came 10th, with an average of 18,851 transactions per weekday between January and November. Here you have the route by section, the timetable, travel times and how to follow the bus.

Route 508: from Av. Mapocho to Av. Las Torres

Pudahuel and Cerro Navia. The 508 starts at Río Clarillo and Río Trancura, passes Rotonda Boulevard Aeropuerto, the CESFAM Cardenal R. Silva Henríquez and El Tranque, and takes Av. José J. Pérez and Avenida La Estrella to the Gimnasio Municipal de Cerro Navia. Via Mapocho Sur it reaches the Hospital Dr. Félix Bulnes.

Avenida Mapocho. From the hospital it runs east along Avenida Mapocho, with stops at the junctions with Neptuno, Samuel Izquierdo, Radal and Joaquín Valledor, up to Tropezón and the CESFAM Andes. Via Av. Coronel Robles it reaches Gruta de Lourdes station and the Basílica de Lourdes, and via Matucana, Quinta Normal station and the Hospital San Juan de Dios.

Centre. It enters the centre via Compañía de Jesús, passes Plaza Brasil, Santa Ana station, the Liceo Uno and Plaza de Armas station, and continues along Merced and the Parque Forestal to Plaza Italia.

Salvador, Estadio Nacional and the south-east. It passes Parque Balmaceda and Salvador station, and heads down José Manuel Infante (Eliodoro Yáñez, Francisco Bilbao, Av. Irarrázaval) to Monseñor Eyzaguirre station. Via Dublé Almeyda and Campos de Deportes it reaches Estadio Nacional station and the Pedagógico. It then continues along Alcalde Jorge Monckeberg, Rotonda Rodrigo de Araya and El Líbano, passes Mundo Sport and the Hospital Dr. Luis Tisné on Avenida Las Torres, and ends via Avenida Tobalaba at Av. Departamental and Los Nogales.

The return trip differs on two stretches: from the Estadio Nacional it goes up Avenida Salvador (Hospital del Salvador) and, in the centre, runs along Santo Domingo and Catedral, passing Bellas Artes station. Heading west it returns via Andes and Avenida Mapocho.

Route 508 timetable

According to the current DTPM operating schedule (October 2026), the 508 runs 24 hours a day, Monday to Sunday. The schedule provides for about 137 departures on weekdays, 98 on Saturday and 80 on Sunday. In the early hours it keeps running, at longer intervals than during the day.

In the morning peak (07:00 to 09:00) on a weekday, the shortest scheduled interval is 5 minutes. At weekends there are fewer departures, so the wait at the bus stop is usually longer. The timetable on this page shows the details by type of day.

How long the 508 takes

According to the operating schedule, a full outbound trip has a scheduled time of 153 minutes for 33.7 km and 103 stops, more than two and a half hours. The 508 is also useful for parts of the route: from the west to the centre, from the centre to Salvador station or from the Estadio Nacional to Av. Las Torres. If you are making a long trip, compare with the journey planner in the App Red, which may suggest combining with the Metro.

Bus stops and Metro connections

The 508 has 103 stops outbound and 102 on the return. It passes the Gruta de Lourdes and Quinta Normal Metro stations on the way into the centre; Santa Ana and Plaza de Armas in the historic centre; Salvador next to Parque Balmaceda; and Monseñor Eyzaguirre and Estadio Nacional towards the south. On the return it adds Bellas Artes. From the Estadio Nacional to Av. Las Torres there are no more stations on the route.

How to find out where the 508 bus is

To see how long until the next 508, use the App Red (in the app stores, “Red Metropolitana de Movilidad”), which is free and has an arrival predictor for each bus stop (paradero). You can also use “¿Cuándo llega?” on red.cl. Enter the bus stop code, printed on the stop sign: it starts with P, followed by a zone letter and a number. The App Red also has a planner that combines buses, Metro and Tren Nos.

Fare and tarjeta bip!

Since 22 February 2026 the adult fare on Red buses is CLP 795 at any time. Secondary and higher-education students pay CLP 260 with the TNE, primary school pupils ride free and seniors with the bip! Adulto Mayor pay CLP 390. You can pay with the tarjeta bip! (it costs CLP 1,550) or with bip!QR from the App Red and other apps.

A single payment covers up to two transfers (three legs) within 120 minutes of the first validation, as long as you do not repeat the same bus route. There is no extra charge between buses; if you transfer from the 508 to the Metro during peak hours, you pay the difference up to CLP 895.

Tips for travelling on the 508

  • To get from the west to the historic centre without a transfer, the 508 drops you at Plaza de Armas.
  • In the centre the outbound and return trips use different streets (Compañía and Merced outbound; Santo Domingo and Catedral on the return): check the map before looking for the bus stop.
  • For end-to-end trips allow more than two and a half hours; combining with the Metro can be faster.
  • At night, check the App Red before you leave: the 508 runs 24 hours, but with fewer departures.
