Route 511 is a Red Movilidad bus (locally, a micro) in the system formerly called Transantiago, linking Cerro Navia with Peñalolén without passing Plaza Italia. It runs through the west of the city to the Alameda, at Estación Central, and from there crosses east via Av. Rondizzoni, the Franklin area, Av. Marathon and Av. Grecia. According to DTPM’s current operating schedule (October 2026), the outbound trip is 35.7 km long and has 101 bus stops. It is run by Metbus.

Route 511: from Cerro Navia to Peñalolén

Cerro Navia and Pudahuel. The 511 leaves from Rodoviario and Mar de Chile, runs along Mar de Chile and La Capilla and takes Avenida La Estrella, where it passes the Escuela Violeta Parra, the Gimnasio Municipal de Cerro Navia and the Plaza de Pudahuel. Via Av. San Pablo it reaches the Municipalidad de Pudahuel and Pudahuel station, and continues past Villa Los Maitenes and Villa Los Poetas to the San Pablo and Neptuno stations.

Av. Dorsal, Radal and the Alameda. From Neptuno it takes Avenida Dorsal to Av. Las Rejas, continues along Nueva Imperial and Radal and reaches Avenida Ecuador and Ecuador station. On the Alameda it stops at San Alberto Hurtado, Universidad de Santiago, San Borja and Estación Central.

Rondizzoni and Franklin. After Estación Central the bus turns south via Unión Latinoamericana and San Alfonso, takes Av. General Rondizzoni, passes El Mirador, the Penitenciaría and Rondizzoni station, and continues along Ñuble, Nataniel Cox and San Diego to Arauco. Along Arauco it crosses Av. Santa Rosa, San Isidro and Avenida Portugal to Santa Elena and Av. Vicuña Mackenna.

Estadio Nacional, Av. Grecia and Peñalolén. Via Av. Rodrigo de Araya and Avenida Marathon it reaches Estadio Nacional station, passes the Pedagógico, the CESFAM Salvador Bustos and the Centro Olímpico Marlene Ahrens and takes Avenida Grecia at Grecia station. It runs east along Av. Grecia, crossing Tobalaba and Av. Consistorial, with a stop at the Municipalidad de Peñalolén, and ends at Av. Diagonal Las Torres and Álvaro Casanova.

On the way back to Cerro Navia the bus uses different streets on several stretches: it goes up Guillermo Mann and Franklin, passes the Centro de Justicia, Av. Pedro Montt, Plaza Yarur and Bascuñán Guerrero to the Estadio Víctor Jara and Estación Central, and in the west it leaves Av. Dorsal at Pardo Villalón and reaches San Pablo station via Territorio Antártico.

Route 511 timetable

According to DTPM’s current operating schedule (October 2026), the 511 runs every day from 05:30. On a weekday there are about 91 departures towards Peñalolén; on Saturday about 86 and on Sunday about 79.

On weekdays it leaves roughly every 11 minutes in the morning peak and every 10 minutes between 16:30 and 18:30. For the rest of the day the scheduled interval is between 11 and 15 minutes. After 22:00 it comes every 17 to 24 minutes, depending on the day and direction.

The 511 is not a 24-hour service. Between midnight and 01:00 there are still departures every 30 minutes in both directions, but between 01:00 and 05:30 there are no scheduled departures.

⚠️ Keep in mind: the last departure from the terminal is before 01:00, but on a route of more than two hours the last bus reaches the intermediate bus stops much later. Confirm it with the predictor.

How long the 511 takes

According to the operating schedule, the full outbound trip takes about 133 minutes for 35.7 km, a little over two hours, with 101 bus stops. For partial trips, such as Pudahuel–Estación Central or Franklin–Estadio Nacional, work out the real time with the App Red trip planner, because it varies with traffic.

Bus stops and Metro connections

In the direction of Peñalolén the 511 has bus stops at Pudahuel, San Pablo, Neptuno, Ecuador, San Alberto Hurtado, Universidad de Santiago, Estación Central, Rondizzoni, Estadio Nacional and Grecia stations. To transfer, tap your bip! within 120 minutes of your first tap.

How to see where the 511 bus is

The App Red, Red Movilidad’s free official app, has a predictor that shows how long until each bus reaches your stop. On red.cl, the “¿Cuándo llega?” option works the same way: type in the bus stop code and you will see the next buses. The code is on the bus stop sign and starts with P, a letter and a number. Use it especially around midnight, so you don’t miss the last bus.

Fare and tarjeta bip!

The adult bus fare is CLP 795 at any time of day, in force since 22 February 2026. Secondary and higher-education students with a TNE pay CLP 260, primary-school pupils ride free and seniors with a bip! Adulto Mayor card pay CLP 390. You can pay with the tarjeta bip! or with bip!QR from the App Red.

A single payment gives you up to two transfers (three legs) within 120 minutes of your first tap, as long as you do not repeat the same bus route. There is no extra charge between buses; if you combine with the Metro, the total rises to CLP 895 in peak hours and CLP 815 in off-peak hours.

Tips for riding the 511

  • If you are going from Pudahuel or Cerro Navia to the Estadio Nacional or Av. Grecia, the 511 gets you there without going through the centre.
  • Check the direction between Estación Central and Franklin: the outbound and return trips use different streets.
  • After 01:00 there are no departures: if you are coming back late, plan another connection with the App Red.
  • Check your balance on tarjetabip.cl or in the App Red before going to the bus stop.
