Santiago bus 109 (Red): route map, stops and timetable

Route 109 is a Red Movilidad bus (locally, a micro) in the system formerly called Transantiago, linking Renca with Maipú across western Santiago from north to south. It leaves the Brasil and Miraflores area, in Renca, passes Plaza Renca, Matucana and the Quinta Normal and Estación Central stations, continues along Av. Pedro Aguirre Cerda and through Cerrillos and ends at Terminal Las Acacias, in Maipú. According to DTPM’s current operating schedule (October 2026), the outbound trip is 31.1 km long and has 91 bus stops. It is run by Metbus.

Route 109: from Renca to Maipú

Renca. The 109 starts at Principal and Miraflores, takes Miraflores and Brasil street, where it passes the CESFAM Bicentenario Renca, and via Camino Lo Boza reaches Av. José M. Balmaceda. It continues past the CESFAM Renca, Nicanor Fajardo and Domingo Santa María to Plaza Renca.

Apóstol Santiago, Walker Martínez and Matucana. From Plaza Renca it continues along Av. Apóstol Santiago and J. Walker Martínez to Tropezón. Along Av. Coronel Robles it passes Gruta de Lourdes station and the Basílica de Lourdes, and goes down Avenida Matucana to Quinta Normal station and the Hospital San Juan de Dios.

Estación Central and Exposición. Via Chacabuco it reaches Estación Central Metro station and continues south along Exposición, with bus stops at Vega Poniente and Plaza Melipilla.

Pedro Aguirre Cerda and Cerrillos. The next stretch runs along Av. Pedro Aguirre Cerda: it passes Cerrillos station, the Museo Aeronáutico, the Comando Logístico FACH and the Centro Cívico Cerrillos, up to El Mirador and Camino a Melipilla.

Maipú. In Maipú it passes Villa Santa Adela, the Liceo Maipú, the Plaza Zaror, Av. Esquina Blanca, Cruce La Capilla, Avenida 5 de Abril, the Estadio Santiago Bueras and Plaza de Maipú station. Via Camino a Rinconada it reaches the Hospital Maipú and the Plaza del Abrazo, continues along Avenida Las Naciones and Avenida Portales, next to the Liceo Nacional Maipú, and ends at Terminal Las Acacias.

On the way back to Renca the route changes on several stretches: in Maipú it leaves via Avenida 4 Poniente, between Cerrillos and Estación Central it runs along Av. Pedro Aguirre Cerda, Plaza Melipilla, Ramón Subercaseaux and Bascuñán Guerrero, passing the Estadio Víctor Jara, and in Renca it goes up General Freire before returning to Brasil and Miraflores.

Route 109 services and variants

The 109n is the night service. It does not leave from Renca but from Plaza Italia: it runs along the Alameda with bus stops at Universidad Católica, Santa Lucía, Universidad de Chile, La Moneda, Los Héroes, República and Unión Latinoamericana, continues via Estación Central and Exposición and follows the same route as the 109 along Av. Pedro Aguirre Cerda, through Cerrillos and Maipú to Terminal Las Acacias. It is 22.2 km long and the scheduled trip takes about 59 minutes. It runs every day between 00:00 and 05:30, with a departure roughly every 30 minutes (about 11 a night in each direction).

Route 109 timetable

According to DTPM’s current operating schedule (October 2026), the 109 runs every day from 05:30 until midnight. On a weekday there are about 109 departures towards Maipú; on Saturday about 71 and on Sunday about 65.

On weekdays the highest frequency is early: between 05:30 and 06:30 it leaves roughly every 7 minutes, and in the morning peak every 9 to 10 minutes. In the afternoon, between 16:30 and 18:30, it comes every 8 minutes. At weekends the daytime interval is about 15 minutes and after 22:00 it rises to 17 to 20 minutes.

Between midnight and 05:30 the 109 does not run, but the 109n covers the stretch between Plaza Italia and Maipú every 30 minutes. If you are heading back to Renca at night, there is no 109 service in that time slot.

How long the 109 takes

According to the operating schedule, the full trip from Renca to Terminal Las Acacias takes about 113 minutes for 31.1 km. The 109n, which starts at Plaza Italia and runs in the early morning, is scheduled to take about 59 minutes for its 22.2 km. The real time depends on traffic on Matucana, at Estación Central and on Av. Pedro Aguirre Cerda, so check the App Red trip planner for long trips.

Bus stops and Metro connections

The 109 has bus stops at Gruta de Lourdes, Quinta Normal, Estación Central, Cerrillos and Plaza de Maipú stations. The 109n adds the Alameda, between Universidad Católica and Unión Latinoamericana, as well as Estación Central, Cerrillos and Plaza de Maipú. How to see where the 109 bus is

The App Red, Red Movilidad’s free official app, has a predictor that shows how long until each bus reaches your stop. On red.cl, the “¿Cuándo llega?” option works the same way: type in the bus stop code and you will see the next buses. The code is on the sign at each bus stop and starts with P, a letter and a number. In the early morning, make sure the bus you are waiting for is the 109n and not the 109.

Fare and tarjeta bip!

The adult bus fare is CLP 795 at any time of day, in force since 22 February 2026. Secondary and higher-education students with a TNE pay CLP 260, primary-school pupils ride free and seniors with a bip! Adulto Mayor card pay CLP 390. You can pay with the tarjeta bip! or with bip!QR from the App Red.

A single payment gives you up to two transfers (three legs) within 120 minutes of your first tap, as long as you do not repeat the same bus route. There is no extra charge between buses; if you combine with the Metro, the total rises to CLP 895 in peak hours and CLP 815 in off-peak hours.

Tips for riding the 109

• In the early morning, to get from the centre to Maipú, take the 109n on the Alameda or at Plaza Italia.
• If you are going to the Basílica de Lourdes, the Hospital San Juan de Dios or the Museo Aeronáutico, the 109 has a bus stop at each one.
• Check the direction between Cerrillos and Estación Central: the outbound trip runs along Exposición and the return along Bascuñán Guerrero.
• Check your balance on tarjetabip.cl or in the App Red before going to the bus stop.
