The Secretary of Productive Coordination, Pablo Lavigne, will meet today with authorities from the Unión Industrial Argentina (UIA) to discuss issues related to taxes, energy, and unfair competition.
The agenda also includes recent changes implemented by the Comisión Nacional de Valores (CNV) regarding the movement of funds in client accounts and takes place following a tense Industry Day where business leaders criticized the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo. The meeting aims to address topics that have been previously discussed between the government and the UIA, although it comes at a controversial time after Moretti’s statements, who questioned the minister’s capabilities.
One of the central topics of the meeting will be a demand for the modification that the CNV established for client accounts. A close source indicated that this represents a considerable problem, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (py mes). The CNV had decided that transactions in client accounts must be conducted exclusively via bank transfers, thus closing the option of using electronic checks for deposits.
This regulation affects companies that have been operating in the capital markets using the electronic check system. The regulatory authority justified its decision as an attempt to ensure the immediate availability of funds and improve control mechanisms, although it has raised concerns about the collection of the tax on bank debits and credits.
Additionally, Minister Caputo will participate on October 29 in Rosario in the first of a series of “Rondas de Negocios RIGI,” organized by the Ministry of Economy, which aims to connect investment projects with national suppliers. The UIA has expressed its support for this initiative, aligning with its efforts to link local suppliers with projects being developed under the Large Investment Incentive Regime.
Today’s meeting is another step in the discussions to address the demands of the industrial sector regarding taxes, energy, and the recent decisions of the CNV, as well as the situation companies face due to the new requirements for deposits and withdrawals.
