The two-time world boxing champion, Marcos Maidana, has revealed his renewed involvement in Chino Maidana Promotions (CMP), highlighting his focus on managing boxers and organizing events.

Last week, Maidana used his YouTube channel to introduce a new team behind his promotional company and to remember his cousin Pileta, who was a significant figure in his life and career. The promotion has undergone a reorganization following the death of Gustavo Maidana, known as Pileta, on August 29, 2025. With the acquisition of his promoter-manager license, Maidana has taken a more active role in CMP, collaborating with his cousin Mariana Gómez Maidana and international manager Antonela María Obreja.

Maidana has indicated that his intention is to build a platform to identify and develop talent, as well as to open opportunities for boxers in the international market. “Before, my cousin Pileta was in charge of everything, but now it’s me, along with Mariana,” Maidana explained. Additionally, the former champion emphasized his desire to better understand the operational aspects of the promotion.

The decision to move forward with CMP was not immediate following Pileta’s passing, and Maidana initially lost interest in continuing in the boxing arena. Mariana Gómez Maidana was the one who motivated him to take back the direction of the promotion, as her brother also wished for the project to continue.

A key aspect of Maidana’s plans is the recovery of the club Sociedad de Fomento Honor y Patria, located in San José Luis Suárez, Buenos Aires province. Maidana has expressed his desire to turn this club into a center for boxing events and activities for the community, given its personal significance in his own career.

The next event organized by CMP is scheduled for October 10 in San Pedro, featuring four professional fights and ten amateur bouts. Furthermore, Maidana has referred to a recent complaint in which he questions the bandaging applied by his trainer before his historic fight with Amir Khan, suggesting that it influenced the outcome of the match.

Finally, Maidana does not close the door on a possible return to the ring, emphasizing that the option remains open, although he is evaluating physical aspects related to his current weight.
