Roberto Palacios eagerly awaits the call-up of his son, Brandon Palacios, to the Peruvian national football team for the upcoming friendly matches. Although it hasn’t happened yet, his hope remains strong due to Brandon’s current performance at FC Cajamarca.
Roberto, known as ‘Chorri’, closely follows his son’s performance, as well as that of other young players like Mauricio Arrasco, who is also excelling in Liga 1. “One is always patiently waiting to see how Brandon is doing, and not just him, the other boy [Mauricio] Arrasco is doing very well too,” he stated.
The former Peruvian footballer highlighted the importance of basing call-ups on the current form of players, a practice that was common during his career with the ‘blanquirroja’. “The coach should call those who are at their best. That used to happen before. This time it didn’t, and we hope things go well with the national team. After these four matches, he should have a clear idea of who continues and who needs to earn a place after their good tournament,” he affirmed.
Finally, Palacios commented on the need to balance experience with youth in the team. “These matches are important; there needs to be a mix of players who have earned a name in the national team and who have proven themselves. Young footballers should be given opportunities so they know what they need to work on,” he concluded.
