Facundo Callejo has achieved a significant milestone in the history of Cusco FC by becoming the club’s third all-time top scorer. With 41 goals, all scored between 2025 and 2026, the Argentine forward has left an important mark on a team that was formed in 2009.
The history of Cusco FC, which originated under the name Real Garcilaso, has been marked by the performances of several notable players. Callejo, who joined the club less than two years ago, has stood out as a key figure. His first goal for the institution came at the end of March last year during the fifth round of the Torneo Apertura, when he scored in a 4-2 victory against Alianza Atlético at the Estadio Campeones del 36 in Sullana.
Since then, Callejo has demonstrated exceptional scoring ability, achieving 14 goals in 17 matches during his first season. This performance helped Cusco FC secure a third-place finish in the tournament, behind Alianza Lima and Universitario de Deportes. In the Clausura Tournament of that same season, Callejo continued his scoring streak, adding 11 more goals, which aided his team in qualifying for the Group Stage of the CONMEBOL Libertadores 2026, ending the year with a total of 25 goals.
His outstanding performance earned him the title of Top Scorer of Liga 1 2025 and a spot on the Ideal XI. Despite receiving various offers from other clubs, Callejo decided to stay with Cusco FC. In the new season, despite facing an injury that sidelined him from some matches, he managed to score 8 goals in 14 games.
The forward’s return was notable in the Clausura 2026, where he netted 9 goals in 9 matches. Currently, Callejo has accumulated 41 goals, placing him third among the club’s all-time leading scorers, behind Alfredo Ramúa (60G) and Danilo Carando (61G). Upon reaching this milestone, Callejo expressed his gratitude to his teammates: “to my teammates for helping me to be on the podium of the scorers of Cusco FC.” He also acknowledged that “I am aware that without them, none of this would be possible. Thank you all, and as always, I will keep working to improve.”
