Lanús secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Deportivo Riestra at the Guillermo Laza Stadium during the ninth round of the 2026 Clausura Tournament. This win temporarily places the Granate in seventh position in Zone A, securing their spot in the round of 16.
The match started evenly, but Lanús took the lead ten minutes in with a goal from Allan Wlk. The attack was spearheaded by Eduardo Salvio, who assisted Wlk, who finished with a precise touch. With the early advantage, Lanús controlled the game and looked to extend the score. Although Riestra had opportunities, including a missed shot by Nicolás Benegas and a near attempt from Antony Alonso, the home team failed to equalize before halftime.
In the second half, Lanús scored again through Wlk, who netted his second goal following an assist from Salvio. The third goal came from a free kick taken by Felipe Peña Biafore, which ended in a successful header. Lanús nearly added to their tally, but Gonzalo Lobos’ shot went wide. This victory positions Lanús favorably, while Riestra remains in twelfth place out of a total of 15 teams.
Deportivo Riestra’s next match will be away against Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza, while Lanús will play at home against Estudiantes de La Plata. This closing of the ninth round also includes the match between Instituto and Estudiantes de Río Cuarto, a key game for both teams in their playoff bid.
