The Colombia National Team will play a friendly match in Cali during the FIFA window from November 9 to 17, with the goal of raising funds for the victims of the August 10 earthquake and the construction of the headquarters of the Vallecaucana Football League.
The match will take place at the Pascual Guerrero stadium, although the opponent has not yet been confirmed. According to Oweimar Giraldo, president of the Vallecaucana Football League, the Colombian Football Federation has given its approval for the event.
Giraldo explained that part of the proceeds from ticket sales will be allocated to strengthening the administrative and sports structure of regional football. “We received approval from the Colombian Football Federation for a match of the Colombia National Team in November during the FIFA date. Part of the revenue generated from the Pascual Guerrero sports venue will help promote the idea of having our own headquarters for the League,” Giraldo stated.
The new headquarters is essential after the previous one had to be relocated due to damage to the Indervalle building. The Vallecaucana League hopes the project will be completed by the centenary of its founding, scheduled for 2031. It has not yet been decided whether the senior men’s team, the women’s team, or youth division teams will participate.
