Platense achieved a 2-1 victory over Fluminense at the Estadio Ciudad de Vicente López; however, it was not enough to advance in the Copa Libertadores after losing 2-0 in the first leg at the Maracanã.

In a match corresponding to the quarterfinals, Platense came close to scoring in the opening minutes, with a chance from Nicolás Retamar that went just wide of the goal. Fluminense, on the other hand, responded with a shot from Ganso that missed the target. Platense’s pressure paid off when Ignacio Vázquez headed a shot that forced goalkeeper Fabio into several interventions.

The first goal came for Platense after a play by Guido Mainero, who, capitalizing on a rebound, opened the scoring. Later, the Marrón extended their lead before halftime with a great cross from Mainero that was headed in by Bruno Sepúlveda, leveling the aggregate score of the tie.

In the second half, a mistake by Pablo Ferreira allowed Fluminense to regain possession, leading to a shot from Agustín Canobbio that narrowed the gap and returned the advantage to the cariocas. Fluminense took control of the match, while Platense continued to search for another goal. The intensity of the match remained high until the end, with opportunities from Franco Zapiola and a header from Vázquez himself, although they could not convert any more goals.

Despite their standout performance, Platense could not overturn the tie. Fluminense advanced to the semifinals and will face the winner of the matchup between Palmeiras and Liga de Quito, which saw the first leg end with a score of 1-0 in favor of the Brazilians.
