On the Sunday matchday of Matchday 10 of the Clausura Tournament, Rosario Central achieved a notable victory over Argentinos Juniors, while Newell’s, Belgrano, and other teams played important matches in their respective encounters.
Rosario Central defeated Argentinos Juniors 1-0 in a key match. Ignacio Ovando scored the goal that brought Central to 18 points in zone B, matching Argentinos, who had a promising start but failed to capitalize. Although Argentinos initially displayed good play, a VAR intervention disallowed a goal by Tomás Molina. The advantage came for the hosts thanks to a header from Ovando just before halftime. In the second half, goalkeeper Brayan Cortés made standout interventions to maintain the lead and secure the points for Canalla, who are positioning themselves in the fight for qualification to the Copa Libertadores.
In Vicente López, Newell’s also achieved a 1-0 victory over Platense. Santiago Solari scored the only goal of the match in a game that was played without spectators due to recent incidents. Despite the difficult playing conditions due to rain, Newell’s took the lead in the first half and managed to maintain it. The expulsion of Celís Ingenthron from Platense further complicated the situation for the home team, which now sits in 13th place in zone A.
Belgrano broke a streak of draws and losses, achieving a 2-1 victory against Estudiantes de Río Cuarto at the Julio César Villagra stadium. The Córdoba team, which had faced difficulties in previous matches, responded after conceding a goal in the second half and ultimately secured the victory with a goal from Lucas Passerini in the final minute, thus ensuring their position on the table.
The matchday will close with the clash between Vélez and Tigre at the José Amalfitani stadium, a match that holds great importance for both teams in the tournament standings.
