Franco Colapinto finished in ninth place at the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, the fourteenth race of the season. Despite a momentary lapse that cost him time, the Argentine driver showed his bravery and skill by recovering positions at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.
Colapinto, who started in seventh place, quickly moved up to sixth after an incident involving Ferrari drivers and managed to overtake Lewis Hamilton. He began the race on medium tires and passed Oscar Piastri on the main straight. The competition was interrupted by a red flag following Charles Leclerc’s accident, which allowed the barriers to be repaired. Upon restart, the Argentine switched to hard tires and managed to reach third place before losing ground due to a misstep, returning to the track in fifteenth position.
In a race marked by speed, Colapinto advanced to 14th place before reporting understeering issues with his A526. However, he maintained a good pace and managed to overtake Esteban Ocon, showcasing his adaptability. He capitalized on mistakes from other competitors, including a slip from Nico Hülkenberg, to gain positions, ultimately reaching tenth place following the deployment of the Virtual Safety Car triggered by Lance Stroll’s retirement.
Colapinto continued his ascent and reached ninth place after overtaking Yuki Tsunoda. Throughout the competition, he recorded competitive lap times, including his best lap in 1m24s933. Although he could not overtake other competitors in the final laps, his performance in Monza was noteworthy, having scored points midway through the season. The race was won by Kimi Antonelli, who made history by becoming the first Italian to win in his home country in 60 years.
