The footage from the night Federico Martín Aramburu was murdered was made public just before the start of the trial in Paris. The recordings show the fight that preceded the crime and the confrontation that led to a chase on the street on March 19, 2022.

Security camera footage from the restaurant Le Mabillon in Paris shows a brief altercation between Aramburu and his aggressors, Loïk Le Priol and Romain Bouvier. The incident began when Shaun Hegarty, a friend of Aramburu, intervened in the conversation between Le Priol and a third party, which culminated in insults and assaults. Although Aramburu did not participate directly, the conflict escalated quickly, leading to a physical confrontation.

The videos reveal how, after a brief pause, Aramburu attempted to say goodbye to his attackers, triggering a fight at the restaurant’s exit. Although security staff managed to separate them in under a minute, the conflict did not end there. Aramburu and Hegarty were subsequently attacked in the street, where Aramburu was shot in a fatal incident.

The subsequent investigation revealed that Le Priol, after the altercation, reportedly displayed a police bracelet and expressed his intention to kill Aramburu before continuing the chase. This evidence suggests premeditation in the crime and is a central element in the trial that will begin at the Paris Assize Court.

Aramburu, a 42-year-old former rugby player, had a distinguished career, including his participation in Los Pumas and French teams. He was in Paris with Hegarty, planning to attend a Six Nations tournament match. The rugby community has shown its support for Aramburu’s family, calling for justice and remembering his legacy in the sport.
