James Rodríguez is considering the possibility of continuing his career in Europe by joining Avellino, a club in the Italian Serie B. Negotiations between the Colombian midfielder and the Italian team have progressed, according to recent reports.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzo has also confirmed that initial verbal contacts have already taken place between Avellino and the player’s camp, who has been without a club since July 2026, following his time in MLS. According to reports, coach Alessandro Nesta has spoken directly with Rodríguez, and negotiations are at a stage where they are looking to “square numbers” before making an official announcement that could occur in the coming days. Rodríguez has had little activity on the field, accumulating only 852 minutes of play in 2026, which represents approximately 9.46 matches in seven months.
