Santiago Domínguez, a member of the Pláticas del Mal podcast, was not expelled from Estadio Banorte during the match between Cruz Azul and Santos in Matchday 7 of the Apertura 2026. A video released by the influencer shows his celebration of the goal in the 89th minute, dispelling earlier reports of his forced exit from the stadium.
The alleged expulsion emerged after images were published showing Domínguez surrounded by security personnel before the start of the match. However, the influencer celebrated José Paradela’s goal that secured a 1-0 victory for Cruz Azul, which can be seen on his YouTube channel, where he also comments on the game.
Mike, another host of the podcast, clarified on his X account that Domínguez and his team underwent an “unjustified review” by security, but that after the process they returned to watch the match. The controversy surrounding Domínguez intensified following his misogynistic comments after the defeat of Cruz Azul Femenil, which included disparaging suggestions towards the players.
In August, Cruz Azul announced that they would take legal action in response to the statements made by Domínguez and other podcast members. The club considered these expressions a form of violence against women, indicating that they affected the institution and its employees. Cruz Azul also mentioned that Pons, the sporting director of the women’s team, had received threats on social media as a result of the controversy.
The Liga Femenil BBVA and the Secretariat of Women also spoke out against such expressions, emphasizing the importance of sports criticism without crossing the line into violence and denigration.
