The situation surrounding producer Juan José López Ordóñez has taken a new turn with the inclusion of allegations of real estate fraud, amidst a backdrop of previous kidnapping complaints against soccer player Edson Álvarez and his ex-partner, Sofía Toache.
The conflict originated from the creation of a documentary that aimed to cover the career of the Mexican midfielder, known as “El Machín,” which began to take shape before the Qatar 2022 World Cup. López Ordóñez claims to have worked for nearly two years on the production and to have agreed on a payment of 3.5 million pesos, a sum he never received. His ambition was to sell the material to international platforms, but the project remained incomplete. According to his account, Jonathan Toache Bedolla, Álvarez’s father-in-law at that time, acted as an intermediary in the agreement.
The dispute over the money and broken promises led to a legal and media conflict. In 2026, Gustavo Pérez Osterrot publicly accused López Ordóñez of an alleged fraud of 100 thousand pesos, related to a contract to rent a property at José María Izazaga 56, CDMX, intended for use as parking. Pérez mentioned that the agreement included an advance payment of 80 thousand pesos and an additional 20 thousand, but the delivery never took place, and he claims that López began to evade him after receiving the initial payment.
This accusation has further complicated López Ordóñez’s situation, who is now not only a complainant but also labeled as an accused in a fraud scheme, broadening the scope of this intricate case that has spilled into public opinion.
