Jefferson Farfán and Reimond Manco, two former Peruvian players, had a surprising reunion at the premiere of the sixth season of ‘Enfocados’. After exchanging critiques in the football realm, the two appear together on the podcast hosted by the ’10’ of the street and Roberto Guizasola.
The conflict between Farfán and Manco intensified due to comments made by ‘Rei’ and other former players, leading to tense interactions between them. In the episode’s promotion, Farfán expressed, “I want a show”, hinting that the reunion would have moments of tension. During a part of the teaser, Manco recalled an incident related to Germany that provoked a strong reaction, and Farfán stated: “Do you remember what happened with Germany?”.
The conversation became spicier when Guizasola asked Manco if he was better than Christian Cueva. Manco responded: “Better say, better player Reimond, there’s no comparison”, which generated laughter among those present, including Farfán.
The situation was further complicated by comments from Christian Cueva, who resumed his criticisms of Manco regarding his opinions on Paolo Guerrero. Cueva emphasized that commentators shouldn’t judge footballers based on individual performances. In an interview on Doble Punta, Cueva argued: “You can’t say ‘you are not made for this match'” referring to Manco’s earlier comments on Guerrero. He indicated that the evaluation of a player should be more nuanced and not limited to a single match.
The former member of the Peruvian national team stressed that it is unfair to disqualify a player for poor performance in a specific game, adding that such judgment can be excessively harsh.
