A bus from the company Translima was shot at in San Martín de Porres, Lima, during the early hours of Thursday. The driver was injured and was taken to Luis Negreiros Vega Hospital for medical attention.

The attack occurred at the intersection of Santa Rosa and Izaguirre avenues, an area with commercial activity. Witnesses stated that a red car stopped next to the bus and fired five times at the unit, breaking one of its windows and scattering glass shards inside.

The driver, who received a wound on his cheek and cuts from the glass, was transported to the medical center, although the severity of his injuries has not been determined. After the attack, the occupant of the vehicle that fired ran away, leading the Policía Nacional to initiate investigations to clarify the incident and find those responsible.

The Serenazgo personnel of San Martín de Porres also arrived at the scene, causing temporary traffic restrictions in the area. Traders and neighbors observed the damage to the bus, and although some could not identify the attackers, hypotheses have been formulated suggesting a possible link to extortions against transport companies.

This incident exacerbates the situation for Translima, which has already faced attacks in the past, including one between August 3 and 5. Julio Bertonache, a transport leader from Lima Sur, has stated that the company faces demands from up to six criminal groups related to extortion. The issue of extortion in the transport sector has become a significant concern, jeopardizing the operations and safety of drivers and workers.

As the investigation progresses, authorities will attempt to determine if this attack is related to previous threats against the company, and it is expected that security camera footage will help identify those responsible.
