Producer Luis de Llano has again sought legal intervention to secure his early release from the San Fernando Administrative Sanctions and Social Integration Center, following his detention for contempt of a court ruling related to the civil case brought against him by Sasha Sokol.

At 2:32 AM on September 3, De Llano’s defense team filed an injunction in an effort to achieve his release. This submission came just hours after a lawyer for the producer left the detention center and described the arrest as ‘illegal and arbitrary.’ De Llano was arrested at 6:13 PM on September 2 by the Citizen Security Secretariat of Mexico City, in compliance with an order issued by a judge from the capital’s Superior Court of Justice.

The reason for his arrest is linked to the non-compliance with two measures imposed in the civil proceedings for moral damages initiated by Sokol against the producer. According to the singer’s legal representation, De Llano failed to comply with the order to record a public apology and did not submit the summary of the ruling that confirmed his civil liability.

The SSC confirmed the arrest, stating: ‘This afternoon, personnel from this Secretariat complied with a 15-hour arrest warrant against Luis ‘N’ as a coercive measure for contempt as ordered by a Judge from the Superior Court of Justice.’ De Llano faces a total of 30 hours of deprivation of liberty due to the two arrest warrants.

Luis de Llano’s defense argues that the arrest was ‘illegal and arbitrary,’ and has filed a new injunction seeking his early release. The producer’s lawyer had previously used the argument that there were pending legal resources to justify why the required public apology had not been issued.

The case of Sasha Sokol originates from the relationship that De Llano acknowledged in 2022, when he was 39 years old and she was 14. Following his statements, Sokol claimed she suffered abuse and filed a lawsuit for moral damages. On May 10, 2023, a civil court in Mexico City ruled against De Llano, a ruling that was confirmed and extended by a Civil Chamber months later.

Luis de Llano could face a prosecution for disobedience under the Penal Code for the Federal District, which establishes that the penalty can vary from one to five years in prison if the disobedience occurs in front of a judicial mandate.
