The Council of Government of the Junta de Castilla y León has designated Galletas Gullón’s ‘Investment project in logistics and new homogenized and dietetic foods in Palencia’ as a Priority Industrial Project for the 2026-2030 period. This initiative entails an investment of 196.3 million euros and is expected to create 140 new direct jobs while significantly impacting the business framework of Castilla y León.
The project features two main actions. The first involves constructing a new advanced and fully automated logistics platform in Aguilar de Campoo, adjacent to the company’s current facilities and near the VIDA plant. This platform will include a 38-meter high climate-controlled silo, six aisles, and the capacity for 37,400 pallets, along with a loading dock area. Its operation will streamline the processes of receiving, storing, and shipping, optimizing logistics costs and improving delivery timelines to support Gullón’s international growth.
The second action encompasses the building of a new production facility in Villamuriel de Cerrato, which will focus on the manufacture of homogenized food products and dietary items. This facility is designed as an industrial hub for gluten-free, lactose-free, and dietary product lines and will initially operate with three production lines, with the potential to expand to nine. It will incorporate digital manufacturing systems, complete lot traceability, allergen control, online inspection, and energy efficiency enhancements.
Lourdes Gullón, president of Galletas Gullón, expressed satisfaction with the designation of the project as a priority initiative, stating, “We are very proud of a movement that prepares us for continued growth and increases our ability to respond to new consumer and client demands both in Spain and in the more than 125 countries where we operate. All while maintaining our roots, we continue to invest in Palencia and Castilla y León as the heart of our industrial activity and a strategic territory for international growth of Galletas Gullón.”
The investment is projected to have a significant ripple effect on the economy of Castilla y León through the company’s network of suppliers. Galletas Gullón anticipates that the project will involve more than 1,800 suppliers from the region, leading to the creation of over 600 indirect jobs associated with supply companies, transportation of raw materials and finished products, and other services related to industrial activity.
Founded in 1892 in Aguilar de Campoo, Galletas Gullón has over 130 years of history and maintains all production within the Palencia locality, supplying to more than 120 countries. In 2025, the company reported nearly 750 million euros in revenue and surpassed 2,300 employees. The group currently operates two production facilities in Aguilar de Campoo, Gullón and VIDA, with a combined industrial capacity of 360,000 tons annually. The designation as a Priority Industrial Project will allow for expedited administration of related investments, reducing processing times by half.
