Dave Bautista has refocused on his weight training ahead of his portrayal of Kratos in the Prime Video series God of War. The actor stated that he has two months left to reach his ideal physical condition before taking on the iconic role.

Bautista shared his progress in a video on Instagram, where he showed footage of his fitness journey, indicating that he is in the third week of his training regimen. “I have two more months to get to where I need to be. It’s like riding a bike! Let’s go!” he commented in his post. The footage reveals his gains at the gym, but does not include details about his routine or the specific physical goal he aims to achieve.

The character of Kratos requires an appearance that stays true to the video game protagonist, known for his muscular build, the ash on his skin, and his distinctive red tattoos. So far, Bautista has not been shown characterized as Kratos, which generates anticipation about his transformation into the iconic Spartan warrior.

Bautista will replace Ryan Hurst, who stepped down from the role due to an injury. The decision to cast Bautista has been well received, as his name had been circulating among fans for years regarding various adaptations of the character. However, details about the start date of production and the series’ release have not yet been officially announced. Possible changes in the cast are also anticipated, such as for the role of Atreus, Kratos’s son.

To date, Prime Video has not released official images of Bautista characterized as Kratos. The platform is expected to reveal a promotional photograph first. The lack of official announcements regarding the adaptation’s direction keeps fans eager regarding the project’s development and the final outcome.
