Businessman Víctor de Aldama has requested permission from the Audiencia Nacional to privately sell 13 vehicles seized in the hydrocarbons case, valued by the Treasury at €635,700. Aldama argues that he could achieve a greater profit in the market than through the procedures of the Asset Recovery and Management Office (ORGA).
Víctor de Aldama, being investigated along with his partner Claudio Rivas for allegedly leading a fraud scheme involving €231.7 million in VAT from hydrocarbons, has submitted a request to be designated as the “depository” of the vehicles. In his filing, he argues that selling the cars privately would allow him to raise significantly higher amounts, which could help cover potential financial liabilities.
The ORGA has justified the sale of the vehicles in 2025, noting that while they do not suffer material deterioration, their value depreciates over time and incurs storage costs. Aldama highlights that the sale proposed by the ORGA is the most advantageous option to avoid such depreciation and the associated additional costs.
The Treasury’s valuation estimates the 13 cars have a combined value of approximately €635,700. This request from Aldama comes after the ORGA proposed to Judge Santiago Pedraz the auctioning of a Ferrari F12, with a starting price of €241,613. The absence of objections from the judge within 10 days will lead the agency to initiate the electronic auction process.
Víctor de Aldama questions the valuation of the ORGA, stating that the stipulated price is lower than the actual market value of the vehicles, particularly pointing out the case of the Ferrari F12, which he considers a “collector’s item.” The car has not passed its ITV since 2024 and has an auction appraisal of €241,613, with a minimum bid price of around €120,800.
In addition to the Ferrari, there are plans to auction three Land Rover vehicles, with a combined appraisal of approximately €200,000. In May 2025, Aldama’s defense had already requested that the vehicles not be sold, arguing that it could affect his presumption of innocence and asking that they be kept in custody and in good condition.
Aldama maintains that a sale in the market could generate higher revenues: “The sale of these vehicles in the market, and not through the procedures established by the ORGA, would result in substantially higher amounts, which would allow, in turn, to address financial responsibilities…”.
