Argentina Week in Paris: Milei Aims to Attract Investors and Showcase Government Initiatives Argentina Week in Paris: Milei Aims to Attract Investors and Showcase Government Initiatives

The second Argentina Week, a significant initiative by the government, aims to promote local business and attract investments in Europe, led by Javier Milei in Paris from September 30 to October 2.

This event will see Milei accompanied by key cabinet members and approximately 14 governors, marking an unprecedented delegation for such gatherings. Authorities claim it will be the most politically and economically substantial delegation in recent history. Notable participants include CEOs and presidents of major European companies, many of whom are already invested in Argentina, ready to share their experiences and explore further investment opportunities.

The focus will be on sectors that are instrumental in driving the national economy, including energy, mining, agribusiness, infrastructure, and technology. The event is organized by the Argentine Embassy in France, led by Ian Sielecki, in collaboration with the Presidency. Unlike the first edition in New York in March, which included corporate sponsors like JP Morgan and Bank of America, this edition operates independently of private business involvement.

Sielecki has emphasized Argentina’s growing influence in Paris, stating on social media that, due to Milei’s international stature and a proactive foreign policy under Pablo Quirno, investments from France have surged by 50.7% over the past 18 months. A detailed itinerary shared with the attending ministers and governors includes events at the Élysée Palace and a welcome dinner featuring France’s Economy Minister Roland Lescure.

The agenda features activities at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the International Energy Agency, and the International Chamber of Commerce. Alongside Milei, the delegation will include key figures such as Karina Milei (Secretary General of the Presidency) and cabinet members including Luis Caputo (Economy), Pablo Quirno (Foreign Affairs), and others. The presence of provincial governors aims to highlight regional initiatives related to hydrocarbons, mining, agribusiness exports, and infrastructure projects.

Among the Argentine business leaders confirmed to participate are Horacio Marín (YPF), Marcos and Alejandro Bulgheroni (PAE), Martín Migoya (Globant), and several others. The expected audience will comprise around 400 attendees, with a waiting list of additional business representatives eager to participate. The goal is for a cohesive delegation showcasing the most influential business leaders in Argentina.

Overall, organizers intend to present a narrative of transformation in Argentina, aiming to facilitate substantial announcements poised to impact foreign investment, blending economic themes with political context. The confirmed European attendees include influential corporate leaders and the Secretary-General of the OECD, Mathias Cormann, among others.

The event will unfold over three days, with key activities including a welcome reception, plenary sessions discussing growth opportunities in Argentina, and sector-specific meetings focusing on energy, technology, and international trade. Notably, a prize ceremony during the Paris Economic Forum will honor Milei and economist Philippe Aghion for their contributions to economic thought.
