The Israeli Army conducted an attack in the northeast of the Gaza Strip early Friday morning after detecting gunfire against its troops in the area. The military institution considers this gunfire a violation of the ceasefire agreement in effect since October 2025.
A military spokesperson stated that “recently, gunfire has been detected against the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) operating east of the Yellow Line, in northern Gaza” and affirmed that “no casualties have been reported” in their ranks. Subsequently, the IDF launched a retaliatory strike, labeling it “a flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip”.
The statement also indicated that the IDF takes seriously the attempts by terrorist organizations in Gaza to carry out attacks against its troops in the region. In a separate report, the Palestinian newspaper ‘Filastín’, linked to Hamas, reported Israeli airstrikes in eastern Gaza City and at the Sanafir crossing in the north.
This new attack follows an incident on Thursday in Beit Lahia, where at least two people lost their lives. The recent clashes contribute to a total of injuries and deaths exceeding 1,300 and 4,400, respectively, since the ceasefire agreement was signed. Since the onset of the Israeli offensive following the attacks on October 7, 2023, the figures have reached 73,470 dead and 174,540 injured.
