The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, has started a tour of several states to present the progress made in her first two years of government, with Morelos and Durango as the first stops.
In Morelos, the leader provided an overview of social programs, highlighting assistance to 246,476 elderly individuals and support for more than 61,000 women aged 60 to 64 who receive the Women’s Wellbeing Pension. She also mentioned that 27,102 people with disabilities and 20,403 young people benefit from the Youth Building the Future Program. Additionally, more than 92,000 primary school students and 75,000 secondary school students receive educational support.
The federal government plans to construct 253 medical clinics and provide 60 essential medications for free to improve healthcare access. In education, two secondary school reconversions, expansions, and the construction of 10 “Margarita Maza” preparatories in Cuautla are planned, along with the provision of 24,000 new homes under the Housing for Wellbeing program.
During her visit to Durango, Sheinbaum focused her message on the development of indigenous communities, inaugurating the first phase of the artisanal road Pata de Gallo-Santiago Teneraca, which is 5 kilometers long, with a total goal of 30 kilometers. Durango will have 52.55 kilometers of artisanal roads, with an investment of 301.77 million pesos.
Another commitment was to electrify indigenous communities in collaboration with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to improve their access to services. Furthermore, the president emphasized the expansion of wellbeing programs, including the pension for women and scholarships for students. Overall, the announcements aim to maintain these initiatives until 2027 while improving infrastructure and services in both states.
