Julio César Chávez has expressed his unconditional support for Yolanda Andrade, who is facing a diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). After receiving medical predictions that give her a limited time to live, the former boxing champion stated his belief that she will overcome her illness.
Throughout his life, Julio César Chávez has counted on Yolanda Andrade as a pillar of support. From his younger years to the present, their relationship has transcended friendship, becoming a family bond. Following Andrade’s diagnosis, which also includes trigeminal neuralgia, the well-known presenter revealed that doctors have given her an estimate of approximately a year and a half to live, which has caused concern among her loved ones.
In a press conference following the launch of his documentary series ‘Chávez vs Chávez’ on Vix, Chávez was skeptical about the medical estimates, asserting that Yolanda will last many more years. “She will last much longer, she will last many more years,” he expressed while sharing his pain at seeing his friend in a delicate state of health.
Chávez also highlighted that Yolanda has faced ups and downs, experiencing good and bad days in her process of illness. “It’s a damn disease that can’t be explained how it got there,” commented the former pugilist, who believes that Andrade’s situation is puzzling for the doctors treating her. In a humorous tone, he suggested that the origin of her discomfort might be related to witchcraft, while emphasizing the importance of faith in her recovery.
In his message to Yolanda, Chávez advised her to hold on to her religious beliefs, stating: “Hold on to God. God can do anything in this life.” The connection between them remains strong, with Chávez describing their relationship as brotherly, highlighting the emotional support they provide each other.
On the night of Thursday, September 3rd, Chávez was surrounded by his family at the event for his series. He revealed that he had invited Yolanda to attend, but health issues prevented her participation. “She was going to come, but she couldn’t come, really, because she felt a bit unwell,” he commented, assuring that he plans to take her home to watch the first episode together.
