The region of Piura was the scene of a wave of violence, with four people shot to death in a single day, in incidents that occurred in Castilla, Sullana, and the Piura-Chiclayo road.
Among the victims was a taxi driver attacked in front of a hospital, a young father, and a man killed inside his house alongside his father. In Castilla, taxi driver Líder Lizana Campos was surprised by a hitman while he was in his vehicle in front of the Regional Hospital Cayetano Heredia of EsSalud, where he received five shots and died on the spot. Witnesses reported that the attacker fled to a waiting car nearby. The reason behind the murder is under investigation, and the possibility that he was a victim of extortion is not ruled out.
In Sullana, another tragedy struck the community with the murder of Andy Silva Juárez, a 20-year-old young man and father of a child. The attack took place in the Jorge Basadre settlement, near his home. Silva, who worked as a beverage delivery worker, was intercepted and shot at close range, being rushed to the Sullana Specialty Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
The third incident was recorded on the Piura-Chiclayo road, when Mauro Solano Chacón, 64, and his son Hilton Mauro Solano Campos, 38, were murdered. Mauro was found in front of his home with three shots to the face, while his son was discovered inside the house with four bullets in his head and back. It was known that Hilton had a history of domestic violence and a case related to drugs, although these backgrounds do not solely determine the motive for the double murder. The Police continue to investigate these four homicides that have shocked the region.
