Peruvian football has seen a shift in the value of its players following the recent qualifiers for the World Cups in Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022.
The latest update from Transfermarkt has revealed that Erick Noriega, a player from Gremio, ranks first on the list of Peruvians with the highest market value, estimated at 5 million euros, approximately 19.5 million soles. Noriega, a former player of Alianza Lima, could see his valuation increase if a transfer to Europe materializes.
He is followed by three players currently playing for European teams. Felipe Chávez, who recently joined FC Magdeburg in Germany’s Second Division, Oliver Sonne from Burnley, and Marcos López from FC Copenhagen, all valued at 4 million euros, equivalent to about 15.6 million soles.
Fabio Gruber, a defender who debuted in the Bundesliga with Mainz 05, has a valuation of 3 million euros, around 11.7 million soles. Meanwhile, Kenji Cabrera, who has established himself with Vancouver Whitecaps in Major League Soccer, is valued at 1.6 million euros, roughly 6 million soles.
In Liga 1, Piero Quispe, who returned to Universitario de Deportes, has the same market value as Cabrera. His teammate Jairo Concha appears with a valuation of 1.5 million euros, equivalent to approximately 5.8 million soles. Renato Tapia, a player for Al-Wasl in the United Arab Emirates, has seen his valuation decrease to 1.5 million euros after having surpassed the 10 million mark.
Renzo Garcés from Alianza Lima completes the list with a value of 1.3 million euros, nearly 5 million soles.
Regarding the Peruvian national team, friendly matches have been scheduled for their next FIFA date. The team, led by Mano Menezes, will face the United States on September 26 in Orlando and Mexico on September 29 in New York. These matches are part of the preparation for upcoming commitments and will allow the coaching staff to evaluate some variations in the squad, with several highlighted players on this list as potential call-ups.
