FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will learn their six opponents in the group stage of the Women’s Champions League 2026-2027 this Friday. The draw will take place in Nyon, Switzerland, starting at 12:00 PM.
The blaugrana team, current champions of the tournament, and Real Madrid, which is participating for the sixth consecutive season, are the two representatives of Liga F. This year, the competition has seen the loss of Atlético de Madrid as a Spanish representative, along with the elimination of Real Sociedad at the hands of England’s Chelsea FC.
FC Barcelona will be in Pot 1 of the draw, alongside other prominent teams such as French clubs Olympique de Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain, English clubs Arsenal FC and Chelsea FC, as well as German club FC Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Real Madrid, which secured its qualification after eliminating the Dutch AFC Ajax in the playoff, will be placed in Pot 2, where it will also find Italian clubs Juventus FC and AS Roma, Swedish club BC Hacken, Portuguese club SL Benfica, and French club Paris FC.
Pot 3 will include English club Manchester City, Italian club Inter Milan, Belgian club OH Leuven, Austrian club Austria Wien, Swiss club Servette, and Danish club HB Køge. Both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid hope to avoid matches against Manchester City, which is considered a strong rival within their group.
Each team will be paired with two opponents from their respective pots. Theoretically, PSG is considered the most accessible from Pot 1 for Spanish teams, while Arsenal, Chelsea, and Lyon are regarded as the toughest. In Pot 2, Juventus is seen as the most dangerous rival, along with Real Madrid.
The group stage of the Champions League will begin on September 22 and 23 and will conclude on December 16. The top four teams will advance directly to the quarter-finals, while the fifth to twelfth ranked teams will face off in a knockout round to determine the quarter-finalists.
