After ten years of attempts and treatments, Juana Osco Loza and Adolfo Díaz Córdova, both 50 years old, became parents of twins at the National Teaching Hospital Mother Child San Bartolomé. The couple, dedicated to tailoring in Gamarra, finally fulfilled their dream after receiving specialized care.
The journey toward motherhood began several years before the birth of the girls. Juana had undergone a hysteroscopic intervention and two attempts at artificial insemination, neither of which resulted in pregnancy. Desperate, the couple decided to seek new alternatives and found hope in the Human Reproduction Service of that hospital.
In July 2025, Juana and Adolfo presented themselves at Hospital San Bartolomé, recommended by other patients. After a comprehensive evaluation that included medical studies, specialized guidance, and psychological assessment, they chose to proceed with in vitro fertilization treatment.
The arrival at the Human Reproduction Service marked a new beginning for the couple, who had faced several failures in the past. After a series of tests and evaluations, they decided to continue with in vitro fertilization, and in January 2026, the embryonic transfer was carried out, followed by gestational monitoring in the hospital.
On Friday, August 15, Juana was admitted to the operating room and gave birth by cesarean section to her twins, putting an end to a long wait. The girls were born prematurely, weighing 1,915 and 2,085 grams, and received specialized care from the hospital’s multidisciplinary team.
“We are very happy to be parents. It has been 10 years of struggle in different places, and it still seems hard to believe that my daughters are already here,” Juana said, visibly emotional. However, she also expressed her nervousness about the challenges of motherhood, noting that this is a new stage for them.
Juana and Adolfo view the birth of their daughters as the beginning of a new family phase and highlight the importance of having maintained hope throughout the process. “We never stopped having hope,” they expressed, also thanking God and Hospital San Bartolomé for the support received.
