iRobot has introduced Roomba Duo, an innovative cleaning system that combines a vacuum robot and a mopping robot in a two-unit configuration that works together in real time.
Roomba Duo addresses a challenge that has persisted for years in the field of robotic cleaning: the lack of autonomous navigation in dry and wet vacuums, which offered effective cleaning, contrasting with vacuum robots that provided convenience but lacked the necessary power. Unveiled at the IFA 2026 fair in Berlin, this new system integrates an advanced main robot that vacuums and mops with steam, along with an ultra-compact complementary robot. Both devices share a map of the home and use artificial intelligence to coordinate their cleaning tasks.
The main robot features a cylindrical design housing both a wet and dry cleaning module, complemented by a high-performance motor and a large-capacity battery. Its PowerSpin Max scrubbing roller measures 60 mm and applies a pressure of 46N, achieving a cleaning effectiveness comparable to manual scrubbing. For dry debris cleaning, this robot is capable of effortlessly lifting pet hair, crumbs, and other everyday waste, thanks to its pre-treatment system that uses steam to loosen the toughest dirt before being removed by its self-cleaning roller.
The complementary robot, known as Roomba Plus 575 Combo, stands 8.35 cm tall and is 29.8 cm wide, allowing it to reach tight areas and clean under low furniture, where other vacuum robots cannot access. Its PerfectEdge mop extends up to 31 mm, complemented by a side brush for edges, facilitating cleaning of corners and baseboards. Additionally, it features omnidirectional wheels that allow it to navigate over thresholds of up to 3.5 mm.
Both units are equipped with ClearView Pro LiDAR dual line and PrecisionVision AI, allowing them to detect and avoid common household obstacles. The main robot includes AI-driven cameras to capture a wide view of rooms and furniture, optimizing its navigation. The 17 cm wheels provide stability to the main robot during operation, while the shared AutoWash base takes care of self-maintenance.
