Federal and state authorities arrested six people, including a 15-year-old teenager, in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo León, during operations against the Northeast Cartel (CDN).
The operations were carried out by elements of Civil Force, the National Guard, and the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena). During the actions, firearms, drugs, tactical equipment, and other items related to criminal activities were seized.
The first operation took place on Adolfo Garza and Marcelino de la Garza streets in the Pablo de los Santos neighborhood, where a truck with Texas plates was intercepted, carrying Yessika, 43; Raúl, 21; and a 15-year-old minor. In the vehicle, a long firearm, two handguns, three magazines, a substance resembling marijuana, another white substance, two radio frequencies, five mobile phones, and cash were found.
In the second intervention, in the El Sendero neighborhood, on Rancho Las Enramadas and Rancho Santa Rosa streets, a Chevrolet Malibu without plates was stopped, transporting José, 38, and Guadalupe, 18. These individuals had a long firearm, a replica handgun, four magazines, and several packages of drugs, two of which were identified as marijuana and crystal.
The third operation was carried out at the intersection of Juan Reyes Molina and General Francisco Carvajal streets in the Leopoldo González neighborhood, where Daniel, 21, was arrested, wearing camouflage clothing and tactical gear. A handgun, five magazines, and a ballistic vest were confiscated from him.
In total, authorities collected three long firearms, four handguns, one replica handgun, at least twelve magazines, and packages of marijuana, cocaine, and crystal, as well as other elements used in criminal activities. The five adults were made available to the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, while the teenager was handed over to the relevant juvenile authorities.
Sabinas Hidalgo is part of the Nuevo Laredo-Monterrey highway, a route that has recently seen other significant seizures of weapons and drugs. The region has been identified as a corridor for trafficking weapons and drugs between the United States and various areas in northern Mexico.
