The upcoming elections in the province of Buenos Aires are already sparking discussions as Aníbal Fernández makes a notable return. During a surprise visit to Government Minister Carlos Bianco on Monday, he openly criticized Máximo Kirchner.
Fernández stated, «La lapicera es de Cristina, su hijo es el que malversa,» emphasizing that the power dynamics within the party are misrepresented. He remarked, «Creen que tienen la lapicera, cuando en realidad no les pertenece,» asserting that the real authority lies with Cristina Kirchner, pointing out past appointments of friends by the Kirchner faction.
When asked about presidential candidates for the next election, Fernández expressed that the only notable figure so far is Axel Kicillof, while suggesting that Sergio Massa might have his own aspirations. He added, «Cristina tiene todo el derecho a opinar,» yet declared, «el que veo en las mejores condiciones como candidato es al gobernador,» referring to Kicillof.
Regarding the conviction of the former president, Fernández maintained his stance, stating, «A mí no me van a ver nunca como un pelotudo con un cartel de Cristina Libre,» advocating for her innocence. Current political dynamics hint at potential internal elections involving Kicillof and Máximo Kirchner, following previous positive experiences from the PASO in 2023. However, conciliatory efforts appear to be challenged.
Ricardo Quintela, Governor of La Rioja, has extended an invitation to both Kirchner and Kicillof for a meeting next weekend in an attempt to bridge gaps within the Peronist movement, although neither has confirmed their attendance yet.
