Alianza Lima is facing a serious economic crisis with a deficit of 25 million soles, which has generated discontent among fans and tension within the club. Fernando Farah, the club’s largest creditor, has shared his perspective on the current situation and revealed details about his communication with coach Pablo Guede.
The economic deficit of Alianza Lima has raised alarms among its supporters, especially following the scandal regarding payment to Paolo Guerrero for consulting services. According to Fernando Farah, the club is facing unexpected challenges since the departure of Fernando Cabada. “From the outside, one begins to see things they don’t like. We came in without knowing what was there, knowing nothing, and we said: ‘Whatever the situation is, we will turn it around, we will fix it,’ we just never expected the financial situation we have found,” he commented in an interview with the program ‘En Pared’ on TV Perú. Farah lamented encountering unusual salaries and player purchase figures for the club.
The debt also raises the question of who is responsible for the precarious financial state of Alianza Lima. Farah emphasized that after the exit of the Fondo Blanquiazul, the club was up to date and financially stable. However, the crisis intensified with the blackout at the Estadio Alejandro Villanueva against Universitario de Deportes in 2023. “What I know is that, after these three administrations, after having had a healthy and prosperous economy, today we find ourselves with an economy that is completely the opposite,” he stressed.
The official also expressed his dissatisfaction with the terms of the dismissals of Carlos Zambrano, Miguel Trauco, and Sergio Peña, who were subjects of a sexual abuse complaint in Montevideo, contributing to the deficit. “I feel anger, rage, annoyance for all those who take money from the club: representatives, agents, even club workers. That boils my blood because it feels like they are stealing from me,” he commented.
Regarding his dialogue with Pablo Guede, Farah revealed that a renewal is sought for the upcoming season, emphasizing the importance of having people with values in the club. “I had an opportunity to talk with Pablo Guede. As a fan, if he wins the championship, of course, I want Guede to stay. If Alianza does not win, it would be a failure. Alianza is obligated to win the championship every year,” he concluded.
